Are there any subforums or forums that facilitate user->user transfers?  For instance if you want to trade one currency for another directly with the individual and bypass exchanges.  Completely private.

My nubness is showing here because I can't seem to find anything like that and I figured it would be around.

And I understand you risk being ripped off by some scumbag without the exchange middle man being in the picture.  If you're comfortable with the risk and want to split the transaction up into two parts to help then why not.

I think there are some social media like discord or fb or twitter where you can join their group.  Then there are some members who you can trade your coins with.  Always use escort if you cant meet with the other party in person.  This p2p is good if you want to sell plenty of coins without dragging the price down on exchanges.

What do you mean by personal trading?
because so many of its kind, like in alibaba.com (they also use private trading).

just as it does Bitcoin as well as private trading, and the Exchange only provides a market for these tokens to trade.

local bitcoins (https://localbitcoins.com/?ch=11xr) indonesian based peer to peer trading community, where it connects you and the another trader using an escrow on their website. When you get money in your bank then only you release BTC to the other party. This is perfect and instant. And supports many local currencies.
Is this the kind of community or the forum you are looking for?
and what are the advantages for the trader and in the global points of trade? Perhaps they are very different from trading exchanges, But I would like to know their advantages.

Shapeshift and Nexchange won't take zcoin.  I would have to sell it on an exchange for another currency which defeats the purpose of trying to avoid an exchange.

I live in a small city there isn't anyone local who will want to do this.

So looks like I can keep fishing around in the discord or get lucky and find someone in the marketplace here who wants to trade with me.  This sucks.   Sad

The market is volatile and difficult to predict, although bitcoin and altcoin are gaining momentum in the past few days, which has helped restore the market but I think this recovery is only in the short term. Increasing the number of trades will make the market more complex and difficult to predict even though it will boost market capitalization.

You mean P2P transactions then you can able to find various possible exchange on here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=53.0 on this way you can bypass exchanges but be careful on transacting to random people on net, chances or risk on getting scammed would always be high compared on making conversions or trades on exchangers itself.

Might be you are looking for currency exchange section, there are two marketplace sections here on this forum one for bitcoin related trade/exchange and other is altcoin related trades between the user of this community. Mostly the trades which are initiated through these sections don't involve banks or other mediators.

Localbitcoins is not private, nor is the shapeshift, shapeshift is not peer to peer but you can see shapeshift as a peer. I suggest using private currencies but if the money is big you want to trade, there is little possibility of privacy.

While OP stated private, it's not actually about private, but strictly peer to peer.

I have done a few peer to peer transactions in the past years, which was with people I actually knew for a long time. I never had to doubt or fear anything. Nowadays with the increased values and demand for local deals, local traders are more than ever a target for ill minded people. I can't even imagine how intense the feelings and anxiety is for both the buyer and the seller in case they are complete strangers to each other. All the recent bad endings with peer to peer transactions make people even more aware of the risks they expose themselves to. On the other hand, it is basically a learning process since everything that happens serves as example of what to do or not to do when transacting locally.

You could also check if there is any Bitcoin community around where you live.

Here in Brazil, we have a Bitcoin Facebook group with 120k members and many trusted P2P traders. Whenever you want to buy or sell Bitcoins, you can just send them a PM and do the exchange in 30 min max. It's pretty easy and doesn't require any KYC/AML verification.

This is a common practice here in our country to bypass regulations. Less hassle way as long as both parties will follow the terms.

For OP, try to check on your local section here in bitcointalk. You can also explore Facebook groups as normally it should have at least couple of local groups about crypto but always remember to do background checking for that individual to minimize the risks. If meetups, always bring a company and arrange a deal on a public place.

And I understand you risk being ripped off by some scumbag without the exchange middle man being in the picture.  If you're comfortable with the risk and want to split the transaction up into two parts to help then why not.

Trading directly via online is risky. Why become comfortable with the risks if there are ways to minimize it.

I would also recommend LocalBitcoins, but they are requiring ID verification now, so it's not the best solution anymore.

User above suggest decentralised exchanges which I support, as these imply trustless mediators... Suggest you look at Waves or even counter dex, but these probably don't fit the fiat exchange you're likely looking for.

The threads under marketplace> currency exchange gets you trades with other users, but please only do so if the member is trusted or you use a similar trusted escrow. Locate that in Services section.

If it's really just person to person trading, use localbitcoins as above, I personally like that and it has builtin escrow. Or use Bisq if you want something even more direct.

You can always use

https://localbitcoins.com/

to find people that live close to your location. You can arrange with them to trade face to face.

If you want to trade online, I recommend using escrow. Check this thread (Recommended bitcointalk escrow services):

There is trouble abrewing

it depends on the currencies you are trying to exchange! if one is fiat then you are in a lot of trouble because usually methods involving fiat will have charge back and are subjected to lack of anonymity, then also different fiats may be harder for example USD is easier to find compared to CNY for example!
but if the currencies are cryptocurrencies as in exchanging altcoin with altcoin or altcoin with bitcoin then your options are a lot more and much safer. as the other member pointed out there are decentralized exchanges, there is also ShapeShift which is quite easy to use to simply and fast swap two cryptos.

for now I suggest you do not make buying and selling transactions in the forum without looking directly at the buyer, the market is safer without risk

What you're looking for is a decentralised exchange. There are already many in operation but none of them are renowned enough to blindly be trusted and this again raises a lot of questions. I have only used Nexchange in the past and all of my trades seemed to be smooth without any problems.
