I am much more in favour of martial arts versus martial law. Martial law sucks big time, while martial arts on the contrary is cool.

I'm not a pro nor an anti martial law. I dont know what is the feeling  being in a martial law or experiencing martial law so really don't have an idea about it. For what I heaed from the people who exoerience it. Martial law is not bad. If you did wrong then you'll be killed but if your follow the law there will be nothing will happen to you.

When I will based my opionion from the book that I've read from my social science classes,I will definitely say Martial Law has done no good for the country and has recorded many violations of human rights. However,if I will based my opinion on what is happening today,I would say my impressions of Martial Law before is not what is happening now. Today,it was declared in order to protect the law abiding citizens from those criminals and unjust people.

I agree to you, martial law only bring many problems. One is many human right have been violated like many killings are happening. But martial law is the only solution to stop all the fight that is happening now in Mindanao. It will help those innocent people to be place in safe and arm forces of the Philippines helps already those soldier who fight first to finish already the ongoing war. So I am a pro but I am also anti because it will depends on what will happen.

Pro martial law, but it depends on the situation. If it is done for the sake of the country's welfare and the safety of its citizens then why not? Though Filipinoes often think of Martial law as something that is violent and cruel, a way that gets rid of the citizen's human rights and its all because of what happened in Marcos' reign. Martial law in his time will forever linger in the hearts and minds of every filipino citizen today.

I think it depends on the context if Martial Law is implemented and there are rules and standards and limitations then i think it would benefit the cou try long term. However a martial law that is used to incite tyranny and to lengthen one's rule is not welcome in this age of freedom and democracy. If used to provide improvements and public safety then I am all i.

I am in favor of martial law.  Well, there is nothing really bad about it and there is nothing to be afraid of.  If my country will be placed under martial law I think I will feel much better and safe.   There is nothing to worry about the crimes because there were policemen and military everywhere.  Even if you came home late, for sure you will feel safer.  It is not about the dictatorship, I see it more as safeness and the feeling of being secured.  And as a law abiding citizen, there is nothing to be afraid of.

Martial Law are initaied by dictators and tyrants who seek to control their citizens, it does bring about law and order but it takes away basic human rights from the people.

This isn't true as Martial law is sometimes used in order to stop violence from spreading in an area, it can be used tactically at moments where a country is facing interernal dangers (be it a coup) or something along those lines, and they must go into Martial law to coordinate the defense of their country.

If you go forward and even look online with something like this, you're able to see that developed countries use this all the time and it's not only used by dictators - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martial_law

Take a look and fix your argument.
I have seen situations where leaders invoke Martial Law to stop people from staging a protest against a corrupt regime, They kill protesters and later claim that they were staging a riot, with regards to what Duterte is doing i will call it a legit martial law.

Marshall law has been used and abused by a lot of leaders already in the past and that puts a dark bloosy stain in it. But we have to understand that given the right circumstances, marshall law is necessary. This argument again has been brought up with the declaration in southern philippines due to a terrorist group holding a town there affecting a lot of people. People still are incorporating marshall law to how it was used to suppress freedom a couplenof decades back by a past president. The current situation i think is a lot different from what happened then and now i think the cause is just.

Pro Martial Law. But it really depends on the grounds. Declaring a Martial Law should have a base in doing so. But here in the Philippines particularly in Marawi City i agree in declaring Martial Law. It is to protect people in Mindanao.

,i just thought like this, if the society is uncontrollable by the government, it is already the time martial law will be decided or being promoted. I dont think it would harm the citizens living in that area as long as they follow the rules and orders of the law for whats best for them.

There is positivity in every negative. Without this event, we Filipinos are continued to be under their powers unable to speak out but with courage and unity we regained our freedom and forever to be influenced by this event making us where we are now even with the traumatizing events that scars the history but also nurtures it which encourages us.

Pro Martial Law or Anti Martial Law? Which is better for the public safety?

I'm pro in Martial law as long as abusement should not arise. When we look at the good side, it was very helpful. Warrant of arrest is not needed anymore, corrupting Writh of Habeas Corpus. But since warrant is not needed anymore, it was so easy to be abuse by soldiers. I hope that they are responsible enough on implenting it. Btw I'm  speaking from Philippines.

Pro Martial Law or Anti Martial Law? Which is better for the public safety?

I believe the police force already has become over militarized over the recent years.. You see things nowdays already in local law enforcements hands that used to be used during wartime only. IE- Stingrays/Cell site Stimulators. Used to be used to find terrorists hiding in caves, now its used to find anyone, anywhere. Feds have been teaching local law enforcement how to use these devices to take all kinds of data from unsuspecting peoples phones.

Now lets talk civil forfeitures and how much of the FBI's budget comes from money seized from people. Regular people getting stopped with over $10,000 are getting everything taken from them all because of bs laws designed to hurt drug kingpins.

Martial Law would be an all out massacre. People's rights are infringed upon as is enough.

martial law is needed to supress any act of terorism if it is going out of controll. any country would need it if they dont want their country to be destroyed in times of crisis,

Don't joke around. Governments love to abuse this rights to suppress protesters. On one hand an average citizen that doesn't want to stand against any of the established laws finds martial law to be good, because it forces people off the streets, stops all the hassle and allows to watch TV in peace, but this average citizen is usually a selfish moron, who doesn't get he may one day find himself on the other side of the barricade, facing armed men that want to beat him to a pulp for having an opinion.

Usually as seen from the history martial law is not used for what it was made for. In the present world dictators use it to take control over the state, in these scenarios I am against the martial law which affects the roots of democracy.

Martial Law are initaied by dictators and tyrants who seek to control their citizens, it does bring about law and order but it takes away basic human rights from the people.

No, your 101 vocabulary doesnt seem to grasp the concept of martial law.

The martial law concept in the United States is closely tied with the right of habeas corpus, which is in essence the right to a hearing on lawful imprisonment, or more broadly, the supervision of law enforcement by the judiciary. The ability to suspend habeas corpus is related to the imposition of martial law. Article 1, Section 9 of the US Constitution states, "The Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it."

In United States law, martial law is limited by several court decisions that were handed down between the American Civil War and World War II. In 1878, Congress passed the Posse Comitatus Act, which forbids military involvement in domestic law enforcement without congressional approval.

As you can see martial law itself has nothing to do with your government system and all to do with security situation.

Don't try to bring up such topic without providing certain details. We cannot simply assess Martial Law as black or white. You have to qualify and contextualize Martial Law. Otherwise, Martial Law per se cannot be considered bad or good.

The hows, when, why, and so many other considerations have to be taken into account. Otherwise, we are discussing something with unsound basis.

The problem with martial law is that most governments who've implemented it usually does it for the wrong reason. To stay longer in power, to oppress those that oppose them, and all. That puts marshall law in a very bad light where human rights most of the time gets thrown out the window. But i think a lot of us already agrees that it is necessary sometimes in a country that's having a security situation.

Martial law impedes normal civilian life, but it becomes necessary when the situation is desperate. For example, the imposition of martial law can reduce crime and restore law and order in cities such as Detroit.

If you take a look at all Governments, they are promoting at least a mild form of marshal law if they make laws for their citizens to obey.

Martial law can also be implemented on a local level. The South side of Chicago Illinois in the U.S. for example needs martial law at all times. Their murder rate is so high that it would be justified.

People call it "Chi-raq" for a reason.

Pro Martial Law or Anti Martial Law? Which is better for the public safety?

It always depends on the situation, if there is a national threat, then martial law would be great. If your concern is only the public safety, what is the use of the police right?

Sometimes martial law is absolutely necessary but it can be quickly abused. After a mass attack, it's important to keep civilians out of harm's way. Yet, if you don't have safegaurds in place and martial law is abused - > it's horrible.

There are reasons why there's such a thing as martial law. There are instances when martial law would be deemed necessary like when the country is threatened by an outside force. I don't think people should actually fear martial law if it's implemented for the correct reasons.

Nobody wants to live under marshal law, what a silly question

I really can't see a time where marshal law would be a good thing

It is usually used to suppress political opposition and gain tighter control of the government... but if there is opposition to the government, there is probably good reason for the opposition, and it shouldn't be suppressed with military force... might does not make right
