My eventual solution was to give the card to my father in law and get him mining for my account. He was just thrilled with his windows experience index increase!

Next time I mess with stuff I will try just one card on the riser and see if it posts. Good idea.

The board does disable some slots when it is full. Pulled the manual out and read something about this. There is no apparent way to adjust the bios to correct this.

Board is old and crap. True.

Still mining at 660m/hash.  Think the difficulty increase has just about finished me off.

Until Bitcoin rise back to 260$ then I will be mine own god.  Mine on GPU's Mine on.

If you pull the two existing 7850s out, does the card display video with the riser?  Easy way to test that possible issue of the riser...

From what I understand in Linux, is that non 5 and 6xxx series cards and 7xxx series cards don't mix due to driver issues.  I read this somewhere on here.... and haven't tried it in Windows.

Have you hooked up a monitor to the card while powering the machine up?  Shouldn't be the issue, but worth trying as well.

Power supply seems like it might be slightly under-powered for this particular setup.

Some boards disable some slots depending on which slots are populated.

Alternatively you might have to do a mod on the slot where you short a couple of pins on the mobo for it to detect the riser.

Check the hardware subforum for the post on that.  It has pics on how to do the mod.

m2n-sli deluxe motherboard (old with phenom II 945)
2x7850 running well at 350Gh/s each
New Corsair tx850 watt supply
GUI Miner

I want to add 5770 to PCIe 1x

However the 5770 is not detected by OS Windows 8
using a cheap 1x to16x pci e ribbon extension to 5770.

Question: If I upgrade motherboard will it work? Or do i have some other problem? Such as incompatibility from different series cards.

I have read around quite a bit and would welcome being directed to the applicable thread.
