Hello again everyone,

The problem is solved and it was indeed the PSU (power supply unit from LEPA) which was not working anymore.

I replace it with a new one that I get from warranty and everything turned on as if it was new.

I think that you can replece your ram. Or this is photo angle or something is wrong. If not, your psu is bad.

And i have litle problem with one rig. Dont start without hdmi connected. You can try.

I will use the warranty on PSU as I don't have a second PSU or a second Rig to perform all the test.

Look at atx psu pinouts. Lepa have always fan turned on, so you just cross PS_ON with COM. If psu start, then you can take energy volt meter and chceck all lines.

I have already done this. The fan is spinning when doing this and I have tested power coming out of cables when doing this.

I have also tried to cross PS_ON with COM when PSU was pluged to motherboard, CPU, RAM. This resulted in CPU fan spinning but the all thing was not looking to be started.

The problem seems to be at the start

I am sure the problem is from the PSU. Who can confirm?

No one can confirm.

To confirm and be pretty sure you need to put a different psu into the rig and if the rig works most likely your psu is bad.

even that test is not quite good enough .  Since you could simply have a bad cable on the lepa.

to confirm perfectly you need to take every cable on the lepa and use a meter to see every pin  to socket is good on every cable.

you then need to have a second rig that works with a different psu.

then put the lepa in and see if the second rig works

if the second rig does not work the lepa is most likely toast.

MY guess is the lepa is the issue  but that is a guess . not a confirm.

I don't have PSU to swap for the moment, I think I am going to use warranty on PSU.

However, I would like to be sure there is some issues with PSU.

What happens when trying to start off the rig by pushing power button is : just hearing a small electric sound in the PSU. If I press a second time the sound doesn't repeat.
Then, after pressing and holding the power button a long time (as if I was trying to shut down the rig), I can hear the same sound again when I press the power button again a short time.

Who can from that information guide me to be 100% sure this is PSU problem?

Thanks

Thanks,

Regarding connection problem : considering it was working before shuting it down and didn't work after shuting it down. I thing this is not the issue. I have done an hard shut down (with power button) and this may have caused overpowering in some part or damaged some parts (this is my version).

Specs of parts :

PSU :
 Lepa 1600W G1600 80+ Gold

Mother board :
Ashrock H81 PRO BTC New Version (just recieved it)

CPU :
Intel Celeron ProcessorG1840, 2.8 GHZ, 2 MB Cache, LGA1150

RAM :
Kingston KVR1333D3N9/8G 8GB PC3 10600 CL9 240 Pin DIMM

DRIVE :
Kingstone SSDnow SMS200S3 / 30 G (which I adapt using mSATA -SATA 2,5'' Disk adapter from Lindy)

GPUs:
2 GIGABYTE G1 GAMING RADEON R9 390 8192MB GDDR5

Here are the pictures without GPUs :

You're not putting the PSU under any load at all when just connecting green to ground. It needs to have some load to test it properly as most psus would be fine at idle but only show problems when being used. Swap it out onto something else if you can and see if the problems follow the psu.

this is a good method.

also remember that lepa psu is a multi rail  like 4 or 5 rails

and if you really want to shut down a rig

flip the power switch on the psu or pull the psu power cord.

@gt_addict  : I have tried with no GPU at all, this does the same thing : problem is either PSU or CPU. I would say this is PSU as CPU rarely break. However as I said previously, I have tested PSU on its own by connectiing green wire to ground and it ran well. Maybe just some part of PSU are broken. The parts that are broken may be the starting parts of the PSU

Have you tried connecting just one GPU at a time?

If there's a beep sound and everything turns on for a second before completely shuts down again, then there's a high chance of faulty assembly of wires, some where (I had similar issues and always disassemble and assemble everything from scratch, in order to solve it). If it doesn't turn on completely then there's also a chance of incompatibility of some parts. I've used far poorer PSU brands for mining and as long as it turns on, it shouldn't cause any problem (as long as the power usage doesn't go beyond what it could handle).

Could you upload a picture of the setup (with visible cable connections, in case there's any fault on your side) and also the full specs of each items being used in the setup (to make sure of their compatibility).

Based on the added information (on the update you made to this thread), it's most likely an issue with the assembly since you replaced the motherboard and chances of connecting some cables wrong, might be the issue. Still if you could upload a picture with setup information, it might help solve the issue sooner.

Hi everyone,

I have trouble starting my mining rig.

I have already replace the motherboard thinking this was the issue but It still doesn't start.

I have already tried the rig with only RAM, CPU, PSU and this does the same thing.

Can this be the PSU issue? I have LEPA 1600W whichI admint is a poor brand. However, I have tested the PSU on its own by connecting green wire to the ground and this was turning on fine. Though can it still be the problem?

Thanks for your great help.

PS : The rig worked fine for a period of two months. Then I shut this rig down by long -pressing the power button. Then trying to start it again was unsuccessfull as mention above.

UPDATE :

The problem is solved and it was indeed the PSU (power supply unit from LEPA) which was not working anymore.

I replace it with a new one from enermax that I get from warranty and everything turned on as if it was new.
