Just to confirm that the Multibit App does work with Mac 10.5.8 on an Intel-based machine.

Thanks for the input. We have an Intel-based Mac running 10.5, so I'll try to download the software to that.

Otherwise, which online wallets would you recommend? I've looked at Flexcoin and Instawallet. MyWallet at blockchain does not seem to be working today...

10.5-10.6-10.7.3 intel is OK. PPC doesn't work
If you have Intel on Mac OSX 10.5.8 try MultiBit app

An online wallet would be best for trying them out...

Although I'd still recommend upgrading your mac, that operating system doesn't get any more support from apple either, it's outdated!

Kinlo, thanks for the info. It's not easy for me to install Snow Leopard on my computer so I wonder whether you or anyone else have any other ideas. I've never used Bitcoins but I'd like to try them out...

I do believe that the bitcoin client requires snow leopard or higher.  Any chance on upgrading your os?

Of course there is a chance to upgrade It... all he needs to do is to pay Apple lol

I have a Mac running OSX 10.5.8. I've tried to download the Mac software for Bitcoin from weusecoins.com many times, but each time the installation fails and I get this message: 'You cannot open the application Bitcoin QT becasuse it is not supported on this architecture'.

I've tried downloading from some of the 'mirror' sites too, but with the same result.

Any ideas about solving this problem would be appreciated.
