Big Picture Mining Cooperative RedFury thread coming soon. Burn-in is almost done on the first production run.

Why RedFury?

+ 2.5 Gh/s per port on a USB hub, which means more hash per hub and higher density mining an excellent replacement for less efficient units.
+ In stock no waiting immediate delivery avoid the dreaded wait and presale cycle of woe and misery.
+ Burned in testing on each unit, so we know we are shipping working units.
+ Excellent for BTC mining demonstrators, for those looking to spread Bitcoin to a larger community as these are excellent pocket miners.
+ Help bootstrap and diversify the Bitcoin mining economy by supporting other fabricators, help break the monopoly that exists.
+ Excellent passive cooling as well as better electricity consumption profile over other USB units.

Stay tuned for a new thread coming soon.

Yea I think you are right with the hubs. On a larger scale these definitely make more sense.

I am not a SSB customer so that price is not valid.

So a BTC1 Bitfury 2.5G stick is still a better deal

You see the second link bub?

I did not see that, that is very nice of you!!!

Still the overhead on the USB hubs make it a non-starter for me.

Again, still really nice of you to do that!!

So right now you can easily get 2.5gh's in the erupters for about 1btc with shipping at the price of .13. This will have to be close or under for most people to consider it.

Yes even if you could buy them for .13 (link please) you need 8 USB ports to house them

I could put 20 GH in the same 8 USB ports. I'd need 60 USB ports ($360) to house the same 20GH

looks expensive Smiley

Yeah, they do, but the Drillbit usbs (barntech GB) the usbs were $100 each and can be clocked as high as 2.5 or even 2.7 with proper cooling etc.  As far as I know its 2.7gh\s theoretical maximum per chip?

You can get some chips as high as 3GH, but 2.5-2.7 is pretty typical.

What I meant was, having all that support hardware for just one bitfury chip looks expensive Smiley

New thread coming soon...

3 hours of hashing reported... 0 HW errors on revised prototype.

Hoping to having sales start soon so get your BTC ready everyone.

Pricing still to be worked out but keep your eyes peeled this will be a quick sale I suspect.

Very interested.  Will sales  be a pre selling or item in hand?

In stock (in hand) they won't go on sale till they have been tested working / burned in.

We will reserve the type of chip for this miner until we are ready to release more information after we have finished more prototype testing.

There's only one chip out there that does 2.5 (well, 2.7gh/s) that you can get in your hands right now and it's the Bitfury.  That is quite well known. Why the secrecy?

There are other chips. There is no secrecy... we are just "teasing" the information out to the community until we are ready for sales. We are basically using this thread to drum up interest and speculation. It could be BitFury... then again... Grin

As for a newsletter we have that available on our website but at the moment all updates on these products are here in this thread. Thanks for the link we will check that out.

EDIT: Until all the BPMC K1 refunds are complete we will not be making any further statements about future products.

Definitely not Avalon. BPMC is boycotting any Avalon product until refunds are resolved on the Gen1 chips the failed to deliver on time.

We will release details like that later when we actually hit our projected target of 2.5 Gh/s and show our prototypes hashing. For now the production run we anticipate will be very small and for COOP members only. When we get some hard data and some stability we will definitely release all that information. Not that we are trying to be super secretive we just want to provide teasers here to show that we are working on it and we are pushing forward and when we have something more than early prototype data we will be sure to share that with the community. The window for production for this unit is going to be very short so we are working on this as quickly as we can so that it will be viable as long as possible.

We are also still working on our hub still no updates for that but we imagine that in August / September you could buy a 50 Port USB hub and some bare USB Miners that you can put your own chips into and get something comparable to a 4 module Avalon from our website. But that is something we need to really concentrate on to have ready and it may not even happen given the difficulty and ROI projections so fingers crossed that we get further along the prototype pathway in August. The USB Hub will definitely be useful in mining for a variety of configurations particularly any miners that use USB connections to their host controller so the USB Hub is something we are keen on getting to market as it doesn't suffer the same stale date restrictions as ASIC mining devices tend to do.

Our EE updated us yesterday. We have a working 1 chip usb miner throwing 1.2 Gh/s we are hopeful to go to 2.5 Gh/s as things progress. At this rate we will have a small production run in August or early September just for our cooperative members. As we learn more about the prototype we will update our website hopefully with a DIY miner that people can drop their own chips into and a full production unit with chip might be possible by October.

Code:
Got another update for you. Today, I did some refactoring of my source code and got better performance as a result.
The current hashrate is about 1.2GH/s.

Hashrate: 1.2 GH/s
Supply voltage: 0.872 V

Congratz on the 1.2 GH/s very impressive.  What are HW errors like running at speeds like this?  What did you use to provide power for usb miner when getting these speeds?

50 port hub that will be inline or slightly higher than the $ / hub as many other smaller USB hubs. It won't be astronomic pricing like that $1200 USD monster however ours will be an unfinished prototype and will be sold only as an unfinished development unit. In late 2014 we will likely release the plans as a DIY Open Source Hardware. As we get to prototyping this week or next we will post some pictures.

Our new miner is hashing but the EE is now debugging it which is exciting to say the least but time consuming and we hope to provide updates as soon as we start making our first prototype run this August.

General disclaimer for our hubs and miners since we are usually doing only limited small runs for the community that will eventually be released as Open Source Hardware several months later after a few production runs are completed:

yo chief show some actual MINERS.. I can draw something up on CAD...
That second photo is of a actual pcb that we are working on.
The first photo is of a USB hub and not a miner.

pricing?
Pricing will depend on how many we get built but it will be substantially less then the current options.

How many ports will it have and what is your estimate on cost?
It will have 49 USB 2.0 ports that provide 800mA each.

Now we just need a knock out price!!

Testing for our new miners starts today and our hub is nearly complete in design and prototypes should be ready mid August.  We suspect that both these products will be complete the initial prototyping / test phases in the next week or two. Which could possibly mean we are ready to post up units for sale on our site before the end of August with working units working in the wild with various members of the COOP. We are also looking into different chips for our mining farm and plans for cloudhasing and IPO for Big Picture Mining Cooperative. We also are developing turn key website building service for the BitCoin community.

We will be finishing the design prototype for the USB hub over the next few weeks and testing K1s / BE's as well as Raspi's as a few of our members have agreed to take one prototype each and see how they measure up with the first units we produce as well as other USB mining units they have. Spacing etc. will be adjusted to accommodate BE's and K1's as well as other USB miners. Can't really go off the schematic it isn't a scale picture and doesn't show all the ports or the entire schematic but we will be sure to incorporate the space needed. Hopefully as prototyping progresses we will have some pictures of the hub filled with miners. Our key concern is providing enough power to each port so that a Raspi, and the hubs power the various types of USB miners all at the same time.

Nice.
I am assuming that a lot of people would use the new hub for K-1's or BE. Looking at the schematic for the USB hub, It looks like the clearance between ports ( side to side) is very close.  Has the clearance been verified to fit BE or K-1 ?

We are currently working on two new products and hopefully we can release more information on these units in a few weeks as we start testing the prototypes. We are keen on bundling our hub and K1s.
