Nice one Smiley I think this actually works... It's like one of those things you constantly see... And then you have to search about it to see what it's about.

They could have simply implemented a BTC symbol skin, as they did with doge.

As for agar.io, it's simple, but certainly not dumb. It's a reference to the Agar plate (it's a bacteria growth medium)... So the "background" where you move in the game is Agar, and the "balls" are all bacteria Smiley

Pretty nice analogy. Smiley Agar is basically a Petri dish which contains some growth medium to culture microorganisms. It's not dumb in anyway because there are some references to the name, it's just that people tend to only notice the circles alone and not the name that it stands for. Also, notice that if you put blank space on your name, once you climbed to the leaderboard, you'll see that it will display you as 'An unnamed cell', another biological reference. So all in all, the field in which the cells are moving to is the Agar plate and the players that are in it are the bacteria; the small circles you begin to eat are the 'nutrients' that are already present in the Agar dish. Smiley

Isn't there an actual BTC skin already? I think when I played back in the day I saw an orange BTC logo. Maybe someone managed to write the B unicode symbol thing as a nickname? weird. I think it's a good idea to promote the coin. Tons and tons of people play the game and you always pay attention to who is 1º.

I also once played with a bitcoin symbol, though I'm not sure how did the player do that. A unicode would be nice since we can all play with the symbol,, but the orange color couldn't be always present with the unicode because every time you die, the color of the cell you are playing changes.

Well if we get the Bitcoin symbol as unicode we can all just play as the symbol can't we? That would be pretty neat.
i also hope for the unicode to get approved..  Grin
But i dont think it will get a lot of search using that name agar.io
because players attention is in the game not in the name..

I don't see the appeal of agar.io and I've seen it here a lot.
Do you just make your circle eat the other circles?

It's just a dumb simple game but sometimes dumb and simple go on really well and become viral and if you designed the game you become a millionaire. So that's how you get rich, you get viral even if you do something really dumb. Case in point being the developer of Flappy Bird.

I wonder if names on agar.io actually have any influence on the thing being advertised. I know a lot of people see the name but, i doubt they just go and buy some bitcoin just cuz they saw a top player with a bitcoin related name.
Yeah... that's why I think agar.io advertising is useless. No one actually stops playing agar to check out the website that was advertised; they just keep playing and forget it.

Yes, the simplicity is what makes it appealing.
