Many of those coins do not do anything that bitcoin could not do on its own so it is completely understandable why people do not take them seriously, this market will not be completely about bitcoin all the time if we had altcoins that were good and were indispensable as you say, but that is not the reality of this market, even the second best coin in the market which is ethereum and that its main function is to offer smart contracts doesn't really do anything that bitcoin could not do because you can also create smart contracts on bitcoin.

Altcoins really do reach out the other facets of the society and really do shape the society to take another step towards another era. Even though bitcoin is a lot more popular than the crypto industry itself to the commons right now, it is the duty of many altcoins to educate them and tell them that this industry do exist and functions well to aid many other industries through blockchain technology.

The problem is that many of these altcoins have no use. They make promises there will be uses. you can buy this and that and support that or this and buy and sell gaming items. It never really gets to that. It very rarely ever gets passed the initial distribution stage. Until people stop supporting these projects this will continue to happen. If they supported better projects the bad ones would die out and then maybe we will find ourselves with some useable crypto other then speculation.

People will become more interested in altcoins when big names start taking up responsibility and creating their own altcoins. I believe that what people want most is a brand they can trust and nothing more. Nobody wants an altcoin that will turn out tomorrow to become trash and a waste of money. Just imagine that Facebook is released and the number of people that will be ready to adopt it. Other altcoins are usually a disappointment and that's the reason why a lot of people are not interested. The only altcoins that are very good in the market are the top altcoins just like the Ethereum.

In some sense, already altcoins are doing that job of attracting new people into crypto space by promising short term good returns but due to lots of fake promises, it is going in different direction. I believe altcoins are here exactly for the purpose of promoting cryptos to new people and those people will slowly start adopting bitcoins over the time.

If people really want to promote cryptocurrency, they need to setup grassroot movements in those countries that are suffering from high inflation / hyperinflation
and educate the people there on the ground on how a (payment-focussed) cryptocurrency works (Dash for example) and how such a cryptocurrency can be used for everyday purchases.
That is where real adoption takes place and where promotion is needed.

When you are talking about altcoins in general, people's mind they think also about Bitcoin and I think when promoting newly launch altcoins is very effectively to promote Bitcoin as well. Because Bitcoin tied up all altcoins, every altcoin has a pair of Bitcoin in trading so this is the best way to promote Bitcoin as well. Altcoin price was always tied up to Bitcoin price, so the main currency here is Bitcoin and probably more attractive to investors than the altcoins. Nevertheless, when someone talking cryptocurrencies, they generalized that it is Bitcoin and altcoins was no there.

Yaps, my assumption is that Bitcoin cannot live alone and still requires such a solid altcoin behind it all. Altcoin liquidity is really needed by crypto-world, without it Bitcoin is difficult to be known by the public and is widespread as we know it today. maybe 5 years ahead of Bitcoin in an uproar and known by all corners of the world, if altcoin can make and reach the peak of its success.

What you are basically asking is ig investors and traders like us buy more altcoins then it will boost the use of altcoins and will promote cryptocurrencies in general.
You do have a good point there but I have a different perspective. For me, a coin should grow naturally out of it's own potential value.
If an altcoin has a good use case then people should use it naturally and hence it's value would increase with greater stability.
Bitcoin is hyped up as well. Though it's price is in thousands right now but there are not many countries that legally accept bitcoin as a payment method.
Once bitcoin is globally accepted, it's real potential price would show up and that's how it should be in my opinion.

For now I also prefer to invest in bitcoin because if we look at the price of bitcoin being declining, this is the right time to buy more or invest most of your money into bitcoin. But that does not mean that other coins or altcoins are not good to invest because I also invest in altcoin which in my opinion has great potential.

Why would investors want to engage in what could make them lose their funds, and it's not about getting more people to buy altcoins or to invest in altcoins, would you just invest in an altcoin because they claim it can be used to solve medical problems, problems in the law facilities(judiciary)etc, what you should understand is that is there actually anyone of them that is really solving those issues or are they just dummies claiming to solve problems?, but doing nothing in the end.

No matter how much is preached that people should pay more attention to altcoin, not only bitcoin, they would not until the altcoin market starts working, and for now it is not.

For instance, you have a friend that loves simulator games and you introduce a game that he can play while earning a bit of cryptocurrency (For example, "crypto idle miner" from playstore). That way, he will learn cryptocurrency using an altcoin which from then on we could potentially learn Bitcoin on the way.

Everything starts from how cryptocurrency is introduce and by introducing a game, he could learn more about cryptocurrency while enjoying it.

There are several alts and icos being released with quite an impressive whitepaper. The problem here is if the coin will stay true to course. Most of them don't. That isn't true, tho there have been coins and tokens which are *supposed* to be for those kinds of things but none of them were ever used for the purposes for which they were intended. Part of the reason is the issue of crypto adoption in general, and part of it is that there doesn't need to be a coin for every separate industry. If people were going to use crypto for gaming, for example, they could use bitcoin easily enough.

Or they could use one of the thousands of altcoins already on the market. There isn't a shortage of them. Just the opposite, in fact. There are far too many altcoins out there and there isn't anywhere near the demand required to support all of their prices or uses.

My view is 90% of those alts your talking about were scams to begin with, most of them are ONLY even still running for fear of being sued for scamming
so they have to atleast give a simbiance of "trying" . They dont even need to exist, people like you need to realize BTC itself could do all this, smart contracts, all of it.

Bitcoin is the best example of cryptocurrency and there’s no problem on that because if those people continue to learn more about cryptocurrency then I’m sure they will hear Altcoins and that’s the time for them to study it as well. Cryptocurrency is not just about bitcoin but since its popular, many news are more on bitcoin. Promote cryptocurrency and the blockchain technology, just use the example that is more realistic and not just about the full hype.

They make people seem to believe that the token they've made are only focused with that use. But honestly, every coin can be used for these purposes but you just have to choose the right coin for it. Just like in Bitcoin/Ethereum, it's a known top choice for payments and also there's BNB now.

Then why not a decentralized altcoin?
There will be no owner. Just like bitcoin.
It can still be implemented anywhere. Gaming, advertising or whatever idea they have.

This is why it had always been bitcoin in the front line. There is no ownership. Unlike so much ICO that is being created out there.
They could just liquidate it anytime and who knows what reason they will make.

When it comes to the development of an altcoin, most of them have no progress, already in the graveyard, and the rest are slowly dying...

Don't rush out with complicated explaination when promoting cryptocurrency, always start with the basics with simple bitcoin as an asset. Many people got interested with different altcoins projects, but most of them wasn't successful. Sad to say, last year and this year has no good news about previous altcoins project due to falling market value of cryptocurrency.

I understand your dilemma (if you can say that):

There are a lot of good projects and altcoins out there and as much as majority hate them, they could really bring people to cryptocurrency. Specially in the field of medicine, there could be altcoins right now that can really close the gap specially regarding medical records.

But sad to say that most of the people here wanted to get rich and doesn't care about the fundamentals behind.

Bitcoin no longer can be the face of cryptocurrency as it has become a rare asset to hold.
Currency should be easily used and transacted for trades and deals. People could buy bitcoin after being familiar with crypto but most of them won't even try a crypto if their first experience of crypto was costly and late.

Because of the developer's lack of responsiveness on their projects, we have seen thousands of dead coins now, they create a coin for one industry, people will invest on it, thinking that the industry will benefit because of that coin after they are funded they run away with investor's money.

That can be done when the team is really transparent to the investors. You can see that ethereum has already opened its way for everyone who can help the team to create a proper solution to fix the existing problem. But the majority of the new platforms are never doing anything even to create a transparency report about the project. That's impossible to happen caused by the fact that the altcoin team itself can't be trusted. Investors are always welcome for that but the altcoin team itself always make their own solution without doing the more democratize solution just like doing a vote or open a public GitHub.
