Self-certification of residence won't work. You can not write a paper yourself saying "I live here, trust me" . I do not know what you mean with self certification, but it has to be something official, and not out of date. So for example a tax decleration or something.
If you do not posess any valid documents you can get one from your local authorites I think (in my country it is possible)
