I'm interested to see who is willing to donate 5 bitcoins for a name change. Now the new trend is to brag on NFT twitter with a picture of a monkey or a million dollar punk.
Other forums probably want to make money, so they offer different services, but bitcointalk has a different policy.

The Alt account part really does not bring anything into the procedure, more than a dosage of complication. You can create one in under a minute and then that would be the basis for the change of name of the main account, as per your description. Just skip the middleman (the Alt account) and you’d reach the same spot, which is wanting to pay a minor fee to obtain a visible name change on the main account.

Not really going to happen, and it would make it simply too easy to throw everyone off tracks as to who they are really interacting with, even if there were to be a name change record stored somewhere – which many on the other hand would not want to be made visible for legit reasons.

I'm not sure what you want to achieve here (some merits? nahh)
You clearly didn't read all the older posts on this same topic and you propose something that most probably will not be taken into consideration.

Shortly:
* It's not about money. Changing account name will usually not happen for pretty good reasons.
* If this policy would ever change, it will most probably come either as a proposal from admin, either with a super big support from the community; and it's, by far, not the case.

Hello son, would you like to hear the advice below.

You can't. Only admin's can actually change usernames but they rarely do unless in exceptional circumstances. You're only a newbie so you're best off just creating a new account if it's something that really bothers you as you probably won't even get a response from an admin regarding this.

Someone will probably also tell you you can change your name by becoming a donator but at 50btc this is probably out of your price range  Grin.

Whatever you suggest about the purpose of your topic, still people on this forum direct you here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/unofficial-list-of-official-bitcointalkorg-rules-guidelines-faq-703657, whatever your reason.

Worst idea. Admin still helping to change username free. For example, I changed my Username though not much hassle changes just capitalize of characters. But it was free. For that, you need to be an established member and you should apply to admin with reasonable reasons to change Username. It wouldn't be limited to guidelines or fees. Otherwise, scammers will always change the Username and according to your ideas, they could scam again and again.

Goodnight, o_e_l_e_o 🌹
I think the admin has no much time to involve in something not straightforward and controversial. Something that perhaps not beneficial to the forum.
The admin does not moderate anything that it cannot successfully moderate.
It doesn't moderate scam, account sales etc, however they above mentioned are not encouraged.

No matter what you do, it is not possible to prevent accounts from being transferred outside of certain circumstances. You cannot force people to follow a certain procedure.

I also don't think the admins want to get involved in account sales/transfers.

Would you like to be able to request an account transfer by paying the margin and registering an account in advance with the desired name?

Main provisions:

1. The transfer of accounts is carried out by exchanging the names of two accounts with each other.
2. Passwords, ID and message history, feedback are not transferred.

this seems to me like reputation laundering. even if there were a registry that would handle all username changes, this would complicate the checking of each user before the trade. which can only cause more fraud on the forum. Even many new users ignore checking reputation history before making any trade.

4. You can reserve and use the name of someone else's account if it has not been active for many years and is a new account with no post history.

yes, this could be cleaning inactive users/usernames. a couple of times I did some username search I found many of them were never used after the registration time. there could probably be cleaning up one year old or more and never active accounts.

If someone wants to change forum username isn't it just better they send a message to Theymos and see what happens, or create an alternative account with the name they so desperately want, indicating that the alt account is theirs, if they so wish of course. I say so cause the suggestion in the OP is confusing enough to read, not to talk of if ever this is implemented, it is going to be as confusing as hell, to even the point we wouldn't even know who is in God's name who.

The problem is most people trade or carry out monitory deals around the forum, so changing usernames can easily be used by scammers to confuse members, especially given the fact that anyone can easily create multiple accounts which is not restricted.

Why would you want to switch usernames with an account you own? You already have an account with that username.
If it is not an account owned by you, then I do not think there is any condition that would warrant a switch of usernames, being inactive or not making any post is not reason enough.

I do not remember who said, but someone already suggested making an actively updated list that would display changed UIDs.
Changing display names would not affect the UIDs associated with them.

Main provisions:

2. Passwords, ID and message history, feedback are not transferred.
3. Banned accounts are not subject to transfer (username change).
4. You can reserve and use the name of someone else's account if it has not been active for many years and is a new account with no post history.

To transfer accounts, the following conditions must be met.

1. Send PM to admin
2. Confirm ownership of the alternate account by signing the message.
3. Pay the fee (the fee must be at least 5 times

The fact is that no one in their right mind will donate 50 bitcoins to change their name, so you need to either lower the VIP barrier to 5 bitcoins or introduce this innovation. I do not remember who said, but someone already suggested making an actively updated list that would display changed UIDs.

I hope I'll be heard as this option is available on most forums.
