You won't get to see a new child-board if there isn't more relevant activity. I think you'd have more luck if you'd wanted a new child-board for signature campaigns and related stuff. I actually had suggested this a year and a half ago, I'll bump that topic in the Staff section and link to this topic, signature campaign threads are crowding out other content.

I used to be a home miner in 2011-2012 so I can relate having made many a stupid mistake, thankfully people smarter than me did the electrical wiring in the house. I also lost a portion of money I invested in a hosting operation back then, when various projects/investments related to mining and hosting were being undertaken, IIRC all other investors lost almost everything after waiting too long to quit (the guy behind the whole idea was a massive moron).

It's not only mining where newcomers tend to keep making the same mistakes over and over, btw.

All very fair points and I appreciate you taking the time to reply. However I'll stand by my proposal that hosting, just like pools, is an important mining specific service. It might be a chicken or egg sort of thing, while yes, we do not see people asking it just might be that they do not know it's an option.

People can use the search function to find mining hosting-related threads, if there aren't many of them being created or responded to it means they simply aren't popular.

I think you especially know that, while yes, there is a search function, human nature is to browse the posts and forum headers. I mean by the logic of your reply many, many sub-forums should be deleted.

I also believe that mining is far outpacing the level of technical expertise most "home" miners posses. Especially electrical expertise, you should see some of the "solutions" people come up with.

Well, are there even enough hosting related threads in the sections you mentioned? I found 0 threads on the first page of all the aforementioned boards containing the word 'hosting' in it.

Mods cannot create boards and only admins can, and there isn't going to be any new child board, unless there is enough demand for it. If you really think there should be a board for hosting, make sure there is enough demand in the mining community.

Your first sentence proves my exact point, who really knows where to look?

The point of my post is to alert the mods and/or admins in to considering the proposal AND generating interest. The 2nd part is easy as I believe there is, it just needs to be shown.

You won't find a lot of them because they get lost in the system pretty easily. Especially if they get up to capacity and only post every few months about spots opening or expansion. Currently anyone looking for hosting has to rely on someone noticing the post and responding.

I've thought about this quite a bit and would even consider expanding on it to encompass the offered services of Distributors/Re sellers. It would help a lot of newbies who go to the mining section to ask about mining related businesses. IT would be a board that served more of a reference purpose than a discussion purpose.

Board name - "Mining Services" Businesses that Sell or Host Bitcoin Mining Equipment.

Mods, I'd like to propose a new section under Mining that relates to hosting. I know now these discussions are currently put under the Marketplace and then Services or Service Discussion. But as you well know it's easy to get lost in the sea of adds for iStrippers and Signature Campaigns...

If you think about it mining Pools are a paid service as well, yet they have a specific section and rightly so. Hosting, just like pools is extremely important to miners and we need to foster in-depth technical discussions, reviews, and overall peer experiences.

Thanks for your consideration!
