Windows systems really require a good software security pack installed, with at least one antivirus and one anti malware. One the webcam matter, why not keep it disconnected (hardware level)?

Most embedded cams don't provide the means for physically disconnecting it, tho some laptops are starting to feature such a thing. Unfortunately even the cheapest smartphone now comes with a "selfie" cam... This should be covered with something physical like a piece of tape or paper.

Even though you might think no one will choose exactly your webcam to hack. it is better to cover it in order to protect yourself. A hacker does not hack your webcam to watch you all day with no purpose. They are going to record you, listen to your conversations and then ask you money to not share everything publically and when that happens you will have to pay him everytime he asks you or support the consequences. There are multiple cases on the internet about this so you better take action now and have no worries.

Now that you know how deadly malware attacks can be, it is important for you to install and use an anti-malware tool. And don’t stop at that. You should also keep the virus definitions of the tool up-to-date and do a regular scanning of your device to detect and remove any vulnerability.

Downloading email attachments without giving it a second thought has been proved fairly risky, time and again. Phishing emails have always been an effective method for hackers to scam people, spy on them and even steal their identity. In fact, these emails can also lead to webcam hacking. The hacker only needs you to click the link, and the rest is at the mercy of the hacker. So, don’t click an
