Hey, at least I'm up front about the whole thing. Since it's all in the block chain, anyone can actually see who is going to win. But this experiment is more of something to prove a point or two. I'll let you figure out what that point is, but it allows me to explain to a third party what kind of games people from this forum are willing to play, and why their audited, licensed, and certified software just will not cut it in the bitcoin gambling scene.

That is, until bitcoin gambling specifically becomes regulated or controlled, or forces the big operators into the dark.

Anyone want to play at 10 numbers to pick from, but you win 9x the bet? Provably Rigged. (Can make the number selection hidden, just the total number of players.) 1 out of 10 will definitely win.

Actually, I can make it pay out 10x your bet. Or even more. But certain conditions must be met, which I think is easy enough to achieve.

The original game was two numbers from 1 to 37. (Which makes the odds 1:1369). Maybe then I can make the payout 1000x.

Well, this experiment didn't seem to work.

Question: Would anyone play if I changed the payout to 400 times your bet? But now you would have to pick a number from 1 to 1000. Use the last 3 digits of your bitcoin transaction to select your number.

Shhh! ... ok, secret is out. That's actually the plan. Notice the number 37....... It seems someone tried it a few years ago on some free web hosting. Obviously that's not going to get much.

There will be two versions of the game when I make my site, one is like this one, rigged. The other will be provably fair.


There is some luck involved in the "physical real world" version of this. You don't see how other players bet, or not all of them anyway. Just don't bet on the same numbers everyone else around you has already picked.

Sometimes, the draw is fair, using those ping pong balls, witnessed by the so called bet supervisors (also known as "cabos") to form some semblance of honesty. Other times, the big boss just states the numbers they need.

I think people play this game because it is a game of skill.  as there seems to be very little luck involved, other than how the other players bet.

I'm not sure. The first 99 people who go, will most likely pick different numbers. Some may actually overlap with someone else's especially if they send the bet at the same time.

If it doesn't reach > 100 bets, all those who participated will not lose much (just the bitcoin transaction fee divided across everyone) as I will refund everyone.

Now, if I had actually modeled it more like the real world, the bets would not be as widely and transparently known; perhaps more people would play.

Finally, I could have made this provably fair (see my signature for an older lotto game, low hash, or www.lowhash.com).

There is a real world game of this type going on now, and people know it's rigged, and they are still playing.


At that point, there will be 1 unique bet. The winner will most likely be whoever did not pick #10. Part of the rules state that all bets numbers are covered, meaning all numbers from #1 to #100 have been bet on.

I will simply pick a number with the least bets on it, and all who pick that number will be winners, and each one gets 40x.

It's not possible, even after 200 bets, that 20 people will pick the winning number, because there will be at least one other bet number that only has 0.001 bet on it, and that guy will win 0.040.

So what if everyone picks #10, you will have to pick #10, will they all get 40x?

I want to conduct an experiment and start another kind of lottery game. This one is based on a real life one, but I will tell you up front how it works.

Here are the rules:

1. Minimum bet 0.001
2. No Maximum bet. You can bet 100 BTC if you like. But I'm telling you, you will lose.
3. Chose a number from 1 to 100.
4. Send BTC to the betting address including your bet amount, and the last two digits as the choice of number. The 7th and 8th decimal place. A satoshi value of 00 to 99 (00 = 100, or you can send 100 if you want.)
5. Wait for the draw.
6. If your number is announced, you are the winner, and the winner gets 40 times whatever he bet.

For example, you want to bet 0.001 BTC, and you pick the number 37, then you send 0.00100037 to the betting address.

Here are some additional rules to make sure this game finishes successfully:

1. This game is NOT provably fair. It is going to be RIGGED. I will chose the winning combination on the draw date.
2. The draw date is when I have at least 100 unique bets (which covers all the numbers; therefore there will be a guaranteed winner.)
3. OR it has taken too long and I didn't get enough bets, in which case, everyone gets an almost full refund (minus the bitcoin tx fee.)
4. Too long will be defined as, by the end of this year. That means 2014-12-31 23:59:59. That's 3 months from now.
5. If I draw early, I will make a post here that all bets are closed and there will be a draw soon.
6. I will announce the chosen number, and send the winners their prize, to the BTC address that sent the bet.

These are the obvious conclusions, which I will tell you up front now, in case you don't realize it:

1. I will chose the number that has the lowest combined total bet amount.
2. There will be a winner unless I don't get enough bets before the end of the year.
3. The correct strategy is to pick the number that no one else has chosen, and to send the smallest amount just below what all the other numbers already have.
4. This game resembles a real life numbers game in my country, but has been scaled down.
5. Use a wallet that you control the address, such as Bitcoin Core.
6. Unconfirmed transactions will not be counted, so don't forget to send the tx fee.
7. There may be more than one winner. If two or three or four people picked the announced number, they all win 40 times what they bet.

And finally, here is where I may seem to contradict myself, and to add a little fun to the game:

1. The game is actually fair. You know it is going to be rigged. The logic on how to pick the winning number is quite clear.
2. There will be one common betting address. You can see what people are betting on.
3. Therefore, once we have at least 100 unique bets, you can see that there might be a draw.
4. I'm not going to draw at exactly 100 unique bets, I might draw at 110, or 120, ... as long as people keep betting, I might extend the draw date a little bit. Actually, I'm going to announce the draw date at least a day in advance, so people can do last minute bets.
5. By the time I draw, you can pretty much guess who won, unless there is more than one choice, in which case it will be random between them.

The game starts now, ends when I announce that it ends, or when it's the end of the year.
