You should assume they are a CIA front operation.

That still makes them the best way to buy Bitcoins in the US, but be smart about what you do with bitcoins you purchase there.

I have hard proof that Coinbases delete account function does not actually do anything.  They keep all of your data in their databases.  Not surprising, but I recently deleted all of my accounts... I then recreated a single account(i had a few for various busniess i created).  These accounts were linked together.  When I re-created my account i needed to submit a ticket.  The ticket still shows all my linked accounts and they are still sending emails to those accounts.

tldr: Deleting your account doesn't mean shit they still keep all your data and bank info.
