I'd like to believe that: " Through Socios.com, transactions will be fully digital, secure, transparent and entirely connected to the real fan experience. "
To be fair with it being the first of it's type expect a lot of room for growth and changes needed to be made.

Paris Saint Germain announced today a multi-year strategic partnership with blockchain platform socios

How I wish there is a link to back this up adequately. But if it is anything to confirm as been true then it is an awesome development in the blockchain technology.

There is a risk that companies want to use only virtual currencies. It is always good to remember that not all virtual currencies have the properties of a cryptocurrency. In general, virtual currencies are centralized, easily produced and replicated. Whose goal is to generate profit for the issuer.

It can be interesting for companies and even for their consumers. But it does not have the same goal as Bitcoin, for example.

This is indeed great news for the entire cryptocurrency space since this would also increase awareness of bitcoin and other relevant cryptocurrencies, which in turn would also lead to increased global adoption. It feels really great to see these major giants in the sports and entertainment industries stake their claim in crypto.

Thank you Pawel for sharing the links!

From what I have understood from the articles is that, the PSG tokens holders will have some limited influence on few aspects. The article says,

Quote
Fans will reportedly be able to vote on “cosmetic” decisions (choosing the club’s jersey color, stadium music and logo) and certain sports aspects (MVP, Player of the Match or Month, friendlies matches, summer tours, charity line-ups, etc).

Not much of an utility I see here! I believe PSG is just trying to earn some extra couple bucks from their fan's pocket. Without much utility or innovative idea, it is simply a Fanbase monetization idea packaged as a cryptocurrency.  Nothing exciting!

Short summary:

Quote
As part of the partnership, Socios.com will work alongside the club to develop the world’s first Fan Token Offering (FTO) for the Paris Saint-Germain fanbase. The Paris Saint-Germain fan token will be listed on the Socios.com platform and will allow fans to engage with the Club through mobile voting and polling platforms. Token owners will also be granted access to exclusive fan rewards, content and experiences.

Looks like they're trying to squeeze some extra money off their fans + show how ahead of the time they are by using 'blockchain tech'.
