bought a crapload of EVGA 500B for 49 bucks ea

500w single rail

It just so happens that a Corsair AX750 was acting up and switching itself off, so I needed
to run to the computer store and find a replacement...
Had an open box EVGA 600B for $60 whereas the 500B was 64.00 ... (retail store)

First off, the Ant works with it just fine. However, the cable between the connectors is really, really short.
I barely could plug them into the Ant and for a moment I was afraid it is going to rip the connectors off the Ant.
There is a lot of tension!!!

If the 500B is like that, then I rather go with something else next time. While the price is ok and it works, the PITA factor
doesn't pay enough to go for it. 3 year warranty or not...

I myself use a Dell PSU @ 750w and it easily can handle 2 overclocked antminers.

you can buy them for 60 bucks @ http://minersource.net/products/dell-750w-psu-slash-adapter   (sorry if links not aloud for new users. it's not a referral link).

hope this helps

So you have 1 PCI-E wire with 2 connectors? Whatever 500 with single/2 con. I used never seemed to work.
Handles OC?

i used 3 corsair cx600 cheeper than the cx600m and yet the same
overclocked works like a champ
quiet and 3 years guarantee.
quality that shows
I have also some server psu these are beasts I could run two miners with one psu but
keep it simple one for one

i would say xfx pro edition is the best
i dunno if its just me but i have a very hard time to corsair ax1200i because it cant run the two s1 antminer units it will run for about 10 mins then it will automatically shut down i have been running back and forth to the shop to figured out the problems and they are also replacing the units but it will end up with the same problem so i just decide to get a one unit of xfx pro edition and one seasonic platinum which is run nice with the s1
are you throwing a 5v load on the corsair? I'm pretty sure those need a load on the 5v rail or they will shutdown like you describe.

i am pretty sure that im throwing a 12v on it so i dunno what is the reason why the corsair is showing a bad behaviour  Cheesy i already ask dogie about this problem and he said that it should run perfectly but i dunno what is wrong with it so to save the time that i wasted to go back to the shop i decided to get 2 units
anyway everything is fix now and the 3 s1 unit is running on 3 different psu
yes the 12v load is obvious or the ants wouldn't run at all. Roll Eyes But uh yea next...

I found a much better type of PSU for ANTminer S1, ATX power supplies are distributed into multiple branches (12V, 5V, 3.3V), fail to provide all power to 12V.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817377050
http://www.pcicase.co.uk/upload/file_637_519.pdf
I bought a faulty supply Supermicro PWS-1K41F-1R, which I repaired and working.
The source is very effective, certification 80plus Gold! Power 1400W with reserve powers 3 Miners. I own 2 Miner, the PSU stays cold. I do not know how to add photo, photos download here:
http://uloz.to/x5brkEBZ/ant-miner-s1-repasovany-zdroj-1400w-rar

how did you break out the wires?

it is 1200 watts on 120 volts .

but it is a decent psu may not run 3  s-1s on 120 volt over clocked to 393 freq. or it may.

Source originally had no wires. I added wires, using soldering.
I have a 230V so 1400W power. This is not the peak value (as some manufacturers write on ATX PSU) is a permanent power source and can give high-160A,
I have both overclocked to 393 freq, I had to then measure consumption, did not exceed 1400W or decrease freq.

I read a tutorial on how to use the server PSU on an S1.  Does this require that same kind of effort to make work?  That tutorial had soldering, cutting copper bars, more soldering, making PCI-e connectors, even more soldering... DIY projects can be fun, but that just looked painful.
There is a slightly easier way in doing it. At least one that doesn't involved cutting bars.
Soldering and hacking is still required and compared to buying a new one for a bill plus; The pain may be worth it to some.

I probably should have said it looked painful to me.  I'd end up with solder splattered everywhere and electrocuted.  My talents are not in that area.  Software?  That I can do Smiley

Are you planning on purchasing more in the future?  Do you want a single PSU to power more than one S1, or do you want individual PSUs for each?

If you're just going to have the one S1, then the CX600 is plenty powerful enough.  If you're going to run 2 off the same PSU, I use the HX1050.  Others have had success using as little as a CX750 to power both, but that's a bit too risky for my taste.  Want to power 3 off a single PSU?  You could probably get away with the AX1200i, or the EVGA G2 1300.  Or you could do as some have done and use 2 CX750s to power the 3.

yeah if you want 3 ants the evga 1300 will run them there is a good deal on it here.

I also use CX Corsairs, but 750's and 2 of those will power 3 Ant S1's just fine.
Been running for about 4 months without a problem in this configuration and no PSU
burned up or needs replacement. All S1's overclocked at 387Mhz doing about 195 GH/s average each.
OCZ would be alright too, but stay away from Thermaltake.
Don't buy cheap PSU's for Ant's, spend the little extra needed, it's worth it....

yeah but is there a difference between gs and cx

You want the cx600m, since it's modular.

Don't need unnecessary spaghetti wires that aren't connected to anything.

Corsairs seem to work for me with no problems - 500 is enough even overclocked.
