12a high amp power supplies are already readily available. Just google 12v high amp power supply, or ebay it. I was using some when I powered the $8 China USB hubs for my eruptors. No problem filling all hubs w/ 10 sticks. Why would anyone want to buy $50 ankers hubs when they can buy $8 hubs that work just as well? LOL

Took the covers off, and installed new fans - arctic cooling ones, and it's very quiet now.

You will definitely want to take the covers off those BFL units or else you'll burn them out quick. FWIW, my jally was running around 60 w/ the cover on, case was very warm to the touch, and it sounded like a hairdryer. Once I took it off, I unplugged the stock LOUD fan, and used a "silent" 120mm case fan pointed at the unit, and it ran at ~40 deg. The heatsink was cool to the touch, and it was still hashing away at almost 8gh/s nearly silent.

What do you think about the EVGA supernova 1000 G2? Newegg has a pretty good deal going on it right now. It's $130 after rebate.

I have bought quite a few PSUs for GPU / ASIC mining, including Gold, Platinum, Bronze and vanilla 80PLUS (Antec, Rosewill, Seasonic, Sparkle).
IMO cheaper Platinum (Rosewill, etc.) are kind of like the best Gold PSUs (Seasonic Gold). I have regularly overloaded drawn ~10% more than rated power on Gold PSUs and they are very accommodating in that sense. Voltage stability is a hit / miss even among Gold / Platinum rated PSUs. I have a Sparkle Platinum PSU which has very poor voltage regulation, 11.55V on the 12V even at moderate loads. Seasonic Gold have excellent voltage regulation.
My rule of thumb is 80Plus Gold or higher.
80Plus vanilla and Bronze are a strict no-no unless you want an additional heat source, get free electricity or got the PSU for free. They donot take kindly to overloading as well. The difference between Gold and Bronze / 80PLus is remarkable.

My Butterfly Labs order of two BFL SC 60 Gh/s was finally delivered today. I've heard bad things about the PSUs they come with so I decided to get one of these:
Seasonic X-1050 1050W 80Plus Gold

But it's not working. Yesterday I connected it to the wall and flipped the switch, and there was no reaction to the fan, but I thought since it's got nothing to power maybe it does that. Today I connected it to a BFL machine via two Pci-e power cables, and again no reaction - am I missing something obvious or is my PSU dead?
Like, will it not work if I only run stuff via the Pci-e cables? I haven't used proper ATX PSU's in my rig building before. The BFL miners are working fine, right now I'm using the ugly/noisy ones they shipped with.
What do I do?
