I do not have enough knowledge regarding stocks trading. But in crypto there are really pump and dump groups. I have not joined one but I have seen several promotions and invitations to join a group. Basically, they are there to somehow manipulate the market. The group will for example buy in bulk a certain cheap coin. The result is that there is pumping in price because the demand significantly increases. And then they dump because the price is already high, causing the price to dump as well. And then they buy again.

Iam new to the trading game here--in stocks the 3rd party will pay for the pump and dump--how do he promoters make money here besides buying in advance

are the ever paid by the companies?  Do they collect member fees>?

Thanks

There's no promoters IMO, only trade movements decide what's happening with the coins. Sometimes pump /dump is based on some news, sometimes they come out of nowhere...
