I was wondering if it's possible to purchase bitcoins in person? Anywhere in the world? Something that wouldn't leave financial records of my purchases? Making a deposit too would be good. Would anyone else be interested in it?

Of course it is possible to buy bitcoin in person and if you want to mantain your anonymity then that is the way to go just make sure that you know what you are doing because buying bitcoin in person can be risky, after all you are telling a stranger that you're bringing money with you and that you are going to meet them at a particular time and place and as you may guess there have been cases of people being robbed that way.

buying bitcoin can be done directly, but maybe in certain countries but not in my country, because bitcoin is still illegal, before there is a ban on using bitcoin, sometimes I buy bitcoin directly from my friends or relatives.

Buying and selling bitcoins on a face to face basis is just really such a slight divergence from what bitcoin is meant to be - anonymosity. Trading bitcoin among friends or colleagues can also be nice. But generally, wouldn't trust a random stranger online. The best place you can sure of to get bitcoin is from localbitcoins.

It is quite risky as well because you do not know that person whom you would be getting money and might just know that you got scammed and person run away from their as their would be no escrow. So instead online would be a better option as you would have the escrow service available either on this forum or can trade on any reputed exchange.

It's risky depending the seller you find, it's true. But if there were a consolidated "exchange house" in the area there wouldn't be any problem. It's not very different from an online exchange, you need to check carefully their reputation first before sending your money to their hands, so you look for reviews, others opinions and conclude if the seller is legit or not. Unfortunatelly, it can be quite difficult to find physical shops or sellers like that, as anonymity is a preference among Crypto enthusiasts.

It’s possible. I usually send Bitcoin to my friends and sometimes they also send to me. I don’t mostly buy from exchanges, not when I can even buy cheaper from people around who are willing to sell at a rate that is way more cheaper than what the exchanges would offer.

But for your safety and to avoid being scammed, you should never try to do business with a stranger, better to buy from Localbitcoin.com or Paxful. If there is any local seller where you live, then buy from him/her.

Purchasing bitcoin from face to face is different from buying person, you actually no need to meet anyone while you are doing trades in person as well because everything can go online with a trusted middle ma called escrows so by using you can contact any person who is willing to trade bitcoins through this forum with an escrow while doing transactions for your security.

Buying bitcoin directly between individuals is good and very feasible to do, but I am only worried that if transactions are carried out in online media such as social media, to buy directly in real life I think it is very safe to receive money so we just send bitcoin and the feeling for online transactions must be careful because there are many scammers in the virtual world, different if you buy them in an exchange.

It's reallly a shame that Bitcoin in your country is illegal. Or maybe you just wanted to say that is not regulated?
Anyway, for those who want to buy Bitcoins in person Localbitcoins could be a good place to find a seller. I'm almost certain that you can find there persons from almost every country that are willing to trade Bitcoin in person.
Just make sure that you check the feedback and always make transactions in public place, don't go to someone's flat or similar.

Yes, it is possible, but I doubt there is anyone doing this because this contradicts the reason of using cryptocurrency - making transactions private and untraceable to some extent.

Ever since I started buying and trading bitcoin, I have never bought it from exchanges. I usually buy person-to-person. If I’m to make use of exchanges it will require giving out some information I wouldn’t like to give out. First time I bought Bitcoin was from a friend who introduced it to me, after then he introduced me another person who buy and also sell Bitcoin to people. That’s how I have been doing it all this while, I have never purchased from exchanges.

If you know the person personally. You can ask for discount as well or additional amount since you know each other but if not that's some kinda hassle since you need to schedule the when and where to meet. That's why it's more convenient to buy online and pay thru remittance center or convenience store. That's what I did before.
If both part agreed to have that payment method thru remittance. For those that are going to have deal for the first time, this is going to have trust issues. I myself won't have that type of deal if I'm the buyer, it's better to get into that trade face to face just for the sake of safety.

And for the meetup, choose a place that has a lot of people but isn't too crowded. As for discounts, I mostly see refer to "google price" and it all depends on how much and how many bitcoins that you are going to sell/buy.

Ive heard that there are bitcoins ATMS where you can purchase bitcoin and send it to your wallet there are also stores or retailers that supports bitcoin and sells it.
This is true however not all Bitcoin ATMs allow you to buy Bitcoins without any ID. You're lucky if you can find one near your place because most Bitcoin ATMs requires some kind of personal information (money laundering reasons, etc) before they would allow you.

What you would much prefer? To have P2P transactions then you can possibly check it out Localbitcoin if someone do selling bitcoin on your place or any other place you do prefer.
The risk on doing P2P or on personal is that you are risking your identity or same goes with your safety specially when you are dealing big amounts.

Yes you can by finding someone who have bitcoin and willing to sell for cash then you can ask him to transfer bitcoins to your wallet and pay him mone based on current price of bitcoin but buying at personally is very risk since the chance of scam is highly possible so you could choose localbitcoins or any anonymous exchange.

Actually you can also find face to face meeting deals on localbitcoins,,, and you will see quite a few people are willing to do it, but they usually only deal large amounts. Just be very careful of these deals,,, especially when the price is too good. They will give you fake cash, so you need to also check that the cash is legit. Just use it near a money changer and dealer waits. Never go alone either. Protect yourself.

Till now I eternally sold bitcoin to other people, but still selling a small amount. You have to find someone who is trusted, and I myself have done it with people who live in the same country. Actually this is an alternative when localbitcoin has a fairly large fee to withdraw btc to money fiat.

Ive heard that there are bitcoins ATMS where you can purchase bitcoin and send it to your wallet there are also stores or retailers that supports bitcoin and sells it. Only if that country is legal with using crypto tokens as for my country is open arms with crypto currency and accepts bitcoin. If your country restricts btc then im afraid you can't buy it.

Some of my friends had a btc however we didn't' transact personally or we don't purchase each other bitcoin in person or locally it is against your safety and showing to your friends how much btc you had is not safe.

My best advice is only purchase btc in person if you truly trust that person to whom you're transacting with.

Well, somehow it is possible when it comes to making use of platforms like localbitcoin and if you and the person both come into agreement to meet up to make the necessary transactions.

So, yes you can purchase bitcoin in person. Also, in my country, I have actually seen some bitcoin exchange stores, more like OTC, where you can easily exchange bitcoin with fiat, although with some little fee though, and I see that as another easy way to achieve that. Asides these two, I am not really sure if there is any.

I do that in my country. Ever since I started making use of Bitcoin I have never bought it from exchanges, I usually buy in person. There are lots of local exchanges where I live, people that stays in stores and you can walk up to them face to face and buy as much Bitcoin as you want from them and they will just send it to you, straight to your wallet.

That way nobody knows if you bought a Bitcoin or not, all they know is that an amount was from one address to another and that’s it. When I want to sell I also do the same and get the money paid into my account by these people. I have even become friends with them and trust them to the extent I don’t have to meet them in person for transaction.

When you speak with words like this, It fears those who want to do business with you, completely hiding has no good intention.
If you want to do this and within a small limit of "less than $ 10,000", the easiest way is to buy gift cards through Cash and then sell those cards in this forum or through Localbitcoin & Paxful.
There are other ways, but this is the safest way

There are a few over the counter (OTC) exchanges around the world, depends where you live really.

https://numoney.store/sg is in Singapore, a lot of the US OTC exchanges only deal with 100k+ accounts for buying.

While its true that there are some advantages in trading btc in person, please don't forget that there's also some danger risks which is pretty much always there in every situation.

Here's a good guide to minimize the risks: Tips for local transactions

And just wanna add a few things from my side.

  • Reputable platforms which allows you to view their background is great e.g. localbitcoins/btctalk - has a trust system
  • Don't transact with a huge amount of money to a single person. You can just divide it in smaller parts and transact to diff sellers
  • Preferrably, bring a friend who'll watch from somewhere pretending to be a stranger, especially if the amount is somewhere between mid or high

Oh yea, localbitcoins has a kyc, but since you'll be doing it in person, you should prolly be fine since some leave their contact info's
You can also post an ad in your local board.

You can do it either in localbitcoins or in your local telegram groups you can find a person who is ready to do a trade with cash, in that way your transaction is fully untraceable. I have done a couple of times in my country but I didn't buy instead sold my coins for cash.

It is possible to do buying bitcoin thru in person, but this would be hussle because you neednto meet up a guy who want to sell their bitcoin to you that is why i agree to the mate above that you should join to the legit groups who are many trusted people selling bitcoin online or in localbitcoin.

There is localbitcoins. But what I usually do is to look for those people that are interested of buying in meetups through social networking sites. You just need to join a legit group/community on facebook that's related to crypto traders. What's really your plan?
You can also look for a person on Currency Exchange who might be near you.
