I believe CG minor has commandline parameters that allows you to set a start and stop mining time. These would just need to be tacked onto the end of the command used to started at start up
You could also just set up a cron job?
I previously had an S1 with a cronjob for this - You can insruct to stop mining, or to even load different asic-freq files at different times of day (ie: you could load up a 300MHz file during the times you want less heat/noise, and then another task that switcheds in the overclocked frequency file at a diferent time of day

when something goes wrong with the asics they fail and don't work and report as an X to CGminer.
often times a reboot clears them... using the switch on the psu rather then unplugging it.. with that said that has been my experience between a corsair 650X and EVGA 1300Nova...

It will work.. you just need a program to monitor the X's for a reboot... sometimes a psu reboot will start the miner with X's...
Also make sure you are using a heavy duty timer.. most of those cheap timers you get at the "bargin" bins will not handle the amps and could burn out/up...
remember those were designed for a table lamp 100W's... I would make sure whatever timer you get handles 20amps...
give you an example.. my corsair when stopped by timer will 50/50 start the ant with 1 or 2 x's..but my evga's have yet to...
and yes i have switched up the ants on the psu's to see if it was specific to ants but it's the psu..
also what philipma1957 did.. i undervolted 7 ants and put the fans back on throttle control.. other then the little heat they generate..the noise level is 10000% less...

I think it would work. The other option is to do the undervolt downclock mod.
This lower watts lowers hashing rate but also lower fan speed and heat.
140gh with 185 watts is possible

Soon I will be getting an Antminer S1, and I've heard it can get a bit noisy. Since my miners are in the room I sleep in, is there a way to put the miner on a timer from something like 7am to 2am if I decide that it's too noisy? Although I think it will be fine (I sleep with a loud ceiling fan and other mining equipment on) I'd like to be prepared if need be. Thanks!
EDIT: I realize that I could use something like a wall timer, but will that hurt the Antminer? Doesn't seem like shutting off a electronic device suddenly is a good idea, but maybe I'm wrong.
