In my novice experience, two thoughts:
1) Not enough power through the motherboard/PSU. The x16 slot must supply 75 watts of power. You would figure that the Motherboard manufacturer would make sure there is enough power.
2) Is there a monitor plugged into the GPU? That tends to be more a windows problem than Bios. It could be that the Bios does not search for the card once it finds the first one, and it is up to the OS to find the other.

I'm trying to setup a second rig, basically turn my gaming desktop into a part-time miner. The desktop currently runs Sapphire 290x Tri-X in the PCI_ex16 slot. I'm trying to add a spare 290x to the second PCI_ex16 slot but it doesn't get recognized by the bios. I'm thinking likely the slot is faulty. I know its a crappy mobo for mining but since its what I have right now, so my question is: should I just skip the x16 slot entirely and use the PCI_ex1 slot with a powered riser. Is anyone doing that with this mobo or another? My concern is that the 290x when overclocked drawns in a lot of current, so easy to burn mobo and cards with risers.
