Totally agree, nicely put and great idea!

I think this is a very good idea. Thinks I can think of:

1. Company owners should be know and should confirm with official company records and should be checked
2. Company structure in terms of what kind of registration should be one where the company can be hold accountable, not an anonymous registration in a tax haven.
3. Security audit
4. Terms of us should contain enough buyer / user protection sections
5. Rating for support quality and time

I'll update when I have more time to think about this. Maybe also use bronze, silver, gold, platinum levels and define what these include.

Ideas:

• Different levels of label, not all companies would need to same intensity in terms of assessment and/or would simply not want to provide some requirements that are part of the different label levels
• Logo/label/certificate (with level) will be provided, which will link via SSL to the full certificate hosted by the organization that handles the certification / quality labels (organization to be named)
• Clear definition of quality checks per label level

• Gather people interested to partake in this organization, with different skill-sets, which in time will be paid work
• Gather / approach interested companies that are willing to provide input at all different stages of setting this up

Since we all know that Bitcoin, alt coins, cryptocurrency and things related are volatile and have cost many of us a lot of money through scamming, bankruptcy and so on. This was the same issue when webshops became to pop up out of nowhere, and everyone was selling anything online, without any way for the buyer of knowing who they are dealing with, what to expect and what their track record is.

I have been involved for years in quality labels for online retailers and service providers, I'd like to explore the same for, as the topic says Bitcoin, alt coin and crypto related companies. From exchanges, to hardware sellers etc.

I'd like to kick this off, and actually come to a quality "label" that companies can use, if they do this of course does not guarantee 100% safety but tell us they have had to hand over information, have been checked on several security points, and are a "safe" party to deal with.

I would like to make this an organization of different people, with different skill sets. That will do (parts) of the assessment and come up with a report, which could result in not receiving the quality label (which needs a name), given time frame to resolve urgent / major points of the report which will be rechecked and will result in getting the quality label, or the report shows they do indeed abide by the quality / safety / security standard of the label, and will receive permission of use of the label.

I would like to propose this to be a community effort where everyone can suggest what could be part of the label quality standard, (even how it should be named), a seperate website will be created and linked to the label companies can be used which will link to a certificate explaining what has been check, how and when. If anything happens that is not in line with the defined rules and standards of the label, use further use of the label will not be allowed, and the certificated hosted on the "label" website will reflect this. The label website will include a searchable database on company name ensuring no foul play.

I can start with huge list of things that I think should be part of this, but, I think like Bitcoin it should be a community effort and input. I'll update this thread with comments, idea's etc. To see even what member of BCT think about this.

If we do come to a stage that this gets serious and will actually come to life, member of the organization will be working in teams handling the requests from companies, promote the label and so on. Anyone can apply to help out in a later stage and as democratic as possible this will be given form. Members spending time a this stage will be paid for their efforts.

So the first step, what is you opinion, any thoughts, suggestions etc.
And one of the major questions: On what points should a company be checked, which rules to ensure customer safety etc. And how would these be checked? What information would / should be publicly known for you as a customer / user to make a safer decision whom to do business with? Please also reply and define the type of business you are writing about, and if multiple, please make a differentiation between types of businesses.

I find this exciting and had a lot of fun doing this for years on the side with a group of people. I will reserve the next post and manage lists of idea's, status of the project etc. Please at this time no PM's let's keep it a public discussion.
