because i'm curious. i suspect most people are not truly happy. they just go through the motions of life simply because they have life. not because they are happy with life or look forward to a new day.

Why would it be irrational not to help me? I'm not important to the world, to society, or even to you. Nothing would happen if I died. It would be perfectly rational for a non-caring person to simply hang up on me. You certainly don't have any legal or civil or even moral obligation to help - no one would blame you.

I was talking about a scenario where you and I know each other. I see that you're talking in the case of a stranger (in this case you) calling. Well, then yes I would not even respond.
