I don't understand if someone's account number is something that should be public or private.
There was a thread at one point warning people not to submit their Account Number and Routing Number to BitFloor because Roman might commit ACH Fraud. According to a Google search, ACH Fraud is when someone withdraws money from your bank account knowing only your Account and Routing number. I found no information about how this works though, it sounds ridiculous to me.
Now someone on IRC claimed they made a huge mistake and they gave someone their Account and Routing number! I thought this was no big problem, the worst thing that can happen in this case is identity theft. So I Google a bit and the results were garbage, nobody knows for sure. Then I find this:
You can link your bank account to PayPal with only an account number?
Isn't the universal way to receive money from someone for them to know your Account and Routing number and they send you money?
This whole thing is beyond ridiculous and I have no respect for any US bank who would use this system.
