100% of altcoins at this moment are get rich quick scam. if you want to invest or mine altcoins then litecoin and dogecoin.

Yes some of them, but not all, sometime a good coin with good project will come out,you just need to see who are behind that project and what are their long term goals of their project,if they just want to get listed on an exchangers as soon as they launched their coins their motives is to just get rich

I think Ethereum is a good coin with good project. You can do some kind of smart contracts with this coin.

IMHO, I wouldn't really look into mining alt currencies yet.

Get a bit more comfortable and confident in the whole digital currency world first.

If you don't fully understand the possible value (or worthlessness), risks, etc. of an alt currency, you might just end up wasting a lot of time and gain nothing.

Of course, it is good to start somewhere and learn about them. And the links the above poster mentioned are good.

But don't dive into them just yet.

Just my two cents

Yes, there are many altcoins out there. Together with Bitcoin, there is maybe 7-8 altcoins that are promising, all of the others (and there are close to 500) are copies, scams and pulse garbage.

Go to coinmarketcap.com, out of first 15 on the list, half is promising. Go to their forums, do a research, read about them. And then decide which ones are worth mining and investing into.

Watch out, some of them are POS, like NXT for example, and these POS might be with the most potential out there, why? Because they are completely different than POW, and if something goes bad with the POW coins in the future, we just might be turning our attention to these POS algorithms.

Good luck!

not too much going on there i think you can stick with the major alt coin or something like magi if it isn't dead yet, and you have a cpu to mine

every coins out there is certainly almost dead at the moment, very little profit to be made

i've just looked in the alt section, a quick look, and there is zero good coin right now, all with no value at all
