Dude you need to be patient. How long did you even wait before making this post ? Like over posters say you need the confirms to go through on their side. The BTC only reflects upon your account when they see x amount if confirms went through the blockchain then it appears in your wallet on the exchange.  So to clarify yes your fsnsfer can go through without reflecting on the exchanges account that's because the exchange itself is waiting for more confirms and it's not the Bitcoin transaction itself.

Lol, now after all this time it shows up in my wallet on bitfinex. So I guess scratch that question.
Next question, bitfinex says something about leveraged trading not allowed if you are a U.S. resident.
What's that mean? Can I buy and sell coins on bitfinex if I live in the U.S.?
Thanks,

First of all every exchanger have their own rule and terms.
let say you're sending your Bitcoin into Bitfinex, you need to wait 3 confirmation before your wallet credited on Bitfinex(this is for unverified costumer).
and if you are a verified costumer you only need to wait for 2 confimation.
1 confirmation for Investor.Full detail about confirmation on Bitfinex you can go here :
https://support.bitfinex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003291405-Where-is-my-cryptocurrency-deposit-or-withdrawal-

about leverage, you need to verify your account before doing this.
and yep if you're living in the USA you can do it with US citizen card as a verified method

For leveraged trading, it is basically using future contracts for margin trading.

First let me say I spend hrs trying to figure out on my own before posting.
4 hrs ago I tried sending a small amount .004 btc from my wallet to a new exchange acct I set up at bitfinex as a test. After 2-1/2 hrs with no funds in my wallet I started to try and see what happened.
I read where sometimes if the amount is to small no miner wants to do the transaction so about 1-1/2hrs ago I tried to send .25 btc.
My wallet shows 2 confirmations on both transactions but bitfinex still shows unconfirmed.
How do I retrieve my btc if it never goes through?
Why would these transactions take so long?
Thanks,cementhead43
