They only mined two blocks and never payout miners for mining on their pool.
So it's gone forever.
According to that post they mined 2 blocks in 3 months, however they go on to say that they were reputable previously so they potentially did payout before that 3 months or at least on blocks they mined prior. However, that thread is inconclusive, as it seems that the pool had issues even when it was operating with several users complaining about the owner.

It was bitcoinpool for sure . I have the emails still and I know the public address so I have been able to check and see the .75 BTC. It was quite easy at that time to mine.
You could read through the thread linked above, I've taken a quick look, but it doesn't seem like anything that would be useful to you is posted there. Unfortunately, it looks like you'll never retrieve those coins.

Their website, and forum is down. I doubt there's anyone left to contact. Seems the OP of this, and this thread was a part of Bitcoinpool. Might be worth giving them a message since they've been active as recently as of today.

If it is a bitcoinpool.com it was dead a long time ago and according to old post that I found here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.2758666

Yes, please let us know if it is indeed bitcoinpool.com that you were mining BTC with.  If you mined 0.75 BTC, it's got to be somewhere.  If the pool is still operating, it might not even be too difficult to get back.  Be specific about what pool you were mining with and maybe you'll get lucky.  It was pretty easy to mine 0.75 BTC at one point so that would be a pretty great discovery if it was a short lived experiment for you.

This may sound dumb but back in 2011 I mined some bitcoin on bitcoinpool using GUIminer. I really had no idea what I was getting into.

All I have left is the emails I got from bitcoinpool like this:

Payment Information --
Amount: 0.03179927
Recipient: binks [public key address]
Block: 131361
Time: 1308354355.6

Is there anyway to get this back or is it gone forever?

I am assuming it is gone forver. It is .75 BTC
