Upgrade your client to 0.3.23 IMMEDIATELY. Those fractions of a bitcent will be used as a transaction fee the next time you send coins, otherwise.

I think some coins have already been lost, because people thought there wallets were empty and deleted them, but they weren't in reallity...

I agree that's likely to have occurred.

I've kept all mine because I can't be sure if any of the addresses have been given out, so my empty wallets might receive a random payment some day. I'll check my old 'empty' wallets twice a year at least Smiley

So the uneven amounts are transfered correctly and only not shown by the client? This seems really strange for me. Especially because of the limited number of bitcoins.

It would be ok as a system limitation, but having a system with some parts allowing transfers of very small amounts and others not, even not showing them, seems really half-baked to me.

This sould really be changed as fast as possible.

Even if you have a balance of 1.23456789, the client will just show 1.23.

Then, if you send 1.23, the client will show 0.00 even though you still have a balance of 0.00456789.

In later versions of the client you'll be able to see all of that and spend all of it.

Do you know if it rounds the numbers, or does it just omit the digits?

I mean, it's not important yet, but why not let you transfer anything you like, as long as it's above the limit of 0.01. That would solve the SPAM-issue just as well.

It does seem strange... and also very annoying. I've got bits of bitcoins left in my Mt Gox account because I could not transfer them all.

I know, at the moment, transfers with the client are limited to two decimal places.

On Deepbit, the default send money option shows only two places, too. But when I enter manually my exact balance, the transfer seems to work. After that my account is empty, but in the client I see the transfer only with two decimal places.

Does this mean, the transfer works correctly, but is not completely shown in the client? Or is this a system limitation and the to mamy decimal places do vanish atm?

To me as a scientist, this behavior seems very strange. I know there are already discussions about this, and that the amount of decimal places has been restricted to avoid spam transfers, but if there are transfers incoming with more than two decimal places, why not show them correctly?
