while that is true, you can flash a gigabyte HD 7950 back to the F43 bios which will bring the voltage down from 1.25 to 1.09... lots of people are reporting much cooler running after doing this.

From what I've heard, those 7950s use a reference 7970 board design, which will yield the best results for LTC mining. Voltage locked means you can't lower the power consumption any, which means they will run a little hotter or with higher fans. It doesn't have much to do with performance unless you're overclocking the balls of them, which LTC mining doesn't necessarily need.

Hey,

Heard the Gigabyte 7950s are voltage locked. However, i'd prefer them because of the better cooling compared to other 7950s.
The question is: Will Gigabyte 7950s perfeorm well at LTC mining ? I know tweaking is an important part when trying to achieve a high efficiency and from what  I understand, there ain't much tweaking that can be done to a voltage locked GPU...

Would be great if you could share your experience, especially if you mined with a voltage locked 7950 Gigabyte. Thanks in advance Smiley
