If only it were that simple, imgur has really thrown a wrench at us it seems blocking this image traffic! Talkimg has been good although one thing I will say is that I always hate having to resize these to less than 3mg which takes away image quality.

But this limitation is not directly from TalkImg, but from the forum. BitcoinTalk does not allow posting images larger than 2.5MB. In other words, no matter the image hosting service, it will always have this limitation - you can only post images up to 2.5MB.

If you want to save some of this work, you can always use the tool I created: https://www.zip.talkimg.com/

We have to use whatever's available to us, unless a lot of us want to do something about what Imgur did with Bitcointalk then we'll have to make do with TalkImg which I think is much better because it's got the code already at your disposal, you just have to tweak the size yourself. And when it comes to images here, as long as it's legible and a lot of people can read what you want others to see then they don't really care about the quality.

@ObscurePen
If you notice that a user or several of them have a lot of broken images in their old posts, you can tag those users and post about it in this thread I created for that purpose:
Tag a user to update their broken image links
Some have fixed their images after being mentioned, others don't care or haven't noticed the tag.

regarding the "another hosting service", are you perhaps referring to vgy.me? Recently a forum member posted that the images he uploaded from that image hosting have become broken.
That was me. I used that image host in the past, and just like Imgur, it also doesn't work on the forum anymore. TryNinja explained how to add some more code to his automatic image uploading script to include the pictures from vgy.me as well. It works if those images are still available and the host didn't delete them from its servers.

Anyone know what is wrong and how i can fix it?
No nothing is wrong at your hand it's a general errors that takes place because images from some image hosting sites aren't properly embedded on this forum anymore. Few months ago users were facing such error with Imgur images but now most of the image hosting sites give that error. Only images hosted on talkimg can be embedded without any issues while other images upload on any other host will give some kind of proxy error.

If you really want to view an image in a post but the image is still showing that proxy error then I suggest you to click on quote button of that post and copy the link of the image which you see during quoting and paste it on your browser. You'll be able to see the image directly on your browser.

~~~
Even though I didn't experience any problems using Talkimg image hosting, I also found several other people's image posts on several boards that looked damaged and displayed the words image proxy invalid image.
Is it possible that my internet network is weak so the display of other people's image posts is invalid even though the image hosting they use is imgbb.
If you find that the image is invalid even though they used imgbb, then it is very likely that they did not use the image code correctly. Full BBcode links are valid image to use for forum, while others will likely be invalid. So I think it's not a problem with your internet connection being slow, but rather using the link code incorrectly.
Not only imgur.com, but I remember that I got an error using another hosting service, I don’t remember it specifically, but I did not face any problem with TalkImg.com, so even if you have an image hosted in hosting services, it is better to re-upload it using TalkImg.com.
Since using the TalkImg image hosting service, I have never experienced a problem like the one experienced by the OP.
I can say, talkimg hosting works perfectly for me.
Issues with images happened some times in the past but things were back to normal after a while.
Only months ago, serious issues from ingur.com and it lasted very long time. Later people changed to other sites, worked fine but later one or two sites got problems and some members reported it here.
I only mentioned about imgur.com because it caused biggest problems here.
Most probably it would be imgbb or postimages.org I think as I have uploaded images on the site but there were some issues with them as well with some kind of error messages and haven't used them after we have forum dedicated image hosting site.
So it is basically not a problem on my end right?
Yeah
Only the people who posted to images can fix the broken image by using the TalkImg website or the script to reupload their images?
Yeah, if you are to use the script, it will only work for broken images posted through your account and are not in locked threads.
You can pull your request to imgur.com and wait for their policy change but I think it will be hard to convince them to change policy.
Meanwhile, you can go to those thread, click on quote and get image links on imgur.com, copy, paste it on the browser to see those images.
You can use this script
TalkImg.com and imgbb.com is the two image hosting sites that work well for forum. I'm fine with both sites since imgur has been problematic - but to avoid the same problems in the future, TalkImg.com tends to be the best recommendation at the moment. I don't re-upload all old image - except for a few that I think are important.
TryNinja has created a script to automatically fix invalid images - so this is very useful than doing it manually. I haven't done it yet - but might try it in the future if the script still works.
The admin came up with an immediate ban on mixer, wherein he didn't find a solution to this problem.
The ban on mixer did not come immediately after mixers started getting seized.
Why not delete topics or post from users using Imgur and the placing a note or a disclaimer for the reason.
That will be thousand of topics deleted breaking the flow of communication all around the forum. There is a community fix started by TryNinja[1] that allows users to automatically switch their hosting site from imgur to talkimg on threads they started. If the threads were deleted, users cannot do that.
Whenever I try to view a post where a user has attached a picture in the post it comes up with this  msg: "btcointalk.org image proxy Invalid Image" At first I thought this was something wrong with the image posted, but it has happened too many times and I think its something wrong at my end. Anyone know what is wrong and how i can fix it?
If what you're viewing are old images posted then you're likely to see the results like that especially when they are imgur images and not talking hosting site images, secondly this may be from the browser you're using, maybe images have been disabled from it, try reset the settings from it, then also try use another browser to login to the forum and see if the persit or not, it may also be from your kind of device used in login into the forum.
I have some how come into the conclusion that the admin needs to address this situation. Coming through Google search and finding the default image issue due to Imgur is not good. The admin came up with an immediate ban on mixer, wherein he didn't find a solution to this problem.
Why not delete topics or post from users using Imgur and the placing a note or a disclaimer for the reason. I personally felt this same problem when I was trying to learn how to convert an Electrum wallet to a LN wallet. It took me sometime but it could have been simple if those guides were updated.
As a Sr member you are not expected to come and ask questions at this time. You can use talkimg to fix your broken image as others here have already told you. You can click on quote or edit of the post which has image link, visit the image link without img tag, download the image from there, post it on talkimg and host the image from there. On the other hand, you can learn how to fix your broken image from dzungmobile tutorial link for fixing images.
What you know is not what some else knows and I don't see any reason why the OP shouldn't ask any question on where he's having challenges, the rank doesn't signifies if someone knows everything or not. Are you telling me that if a legendary member ask such question on the Forum that you going make such statement? Is so sad that some of us judge what other members don't know base on ranking. Let's try to carry everybody along, we're all here to learn and share knowledge.
I also have such challenges while trying to view some images like in some threads the images are only showing Invalid and I was thinking if is because is an old post that why I couldn't view it, I still find it hard to view some images up till now, maybe the images have a limited time to viewed or something like that.🤔
@OP As you can see there was an issue regarding images from Imgur becoming broken and a lot of images that had been posted in the forum got affected, in the end, Theymos decided to make embedding images from Imgur impossible in the forum.
if you want to use an image hosting service I suggest using TALKimg.com and it is created by a forum member.
Did you see what image host they used? If those users used the imgur for image host then that is the cause you are seeing this error.
You can also see this topic here already discussed about it. Poll on solving the imgur issue
The problem is not from you but rather the it’s the image hosting site problem. Most of the old threads used Imgur for image embedding on the forum. The result of those invalid images are as result of Imgur broken links and not from you. You can fix them by following this guide script to automatically fix broken images
EDIT: check first post
Well i don't really know, but I guess it's a problem from your device. The error message "btcointalk.org image proxy Invalid Image" only shows up on uploaded images that are broken. Sometimes when some user post broken links, I try quoting them to see if it was a mistake from their end. So I think you should also try that. If an additional character is added to that of the image, it becomes broken or if they had uploaded it to a wrong image hosting web, it also gets broken.
Let's test for now, with this image. If you still don't see it, I'll suggest you clear your browser and try again.
Have you tried to use TalkImg this was created by joker_josue. You can check the main thread here: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk
Code:
talkimg.com
Those old images that weren't updated will return the same message.
You can use this script
Image uploading websites/ scripts for Bitcointalk users has some alternative websites for image upload.
You can see some images from imgur.com but if  you quote those posts, it will not be allowed.
It looks like imgur is no longer blocking the image proxy. I didn't change anything on the forum's end, so imgur must've loosened up their limits. I guess it's not necessary to convert img images into links as long as imgur keeps working. But to prevent this from happening again, you'll get an error if you try to embed imgur images in posts from now on.
I'd like to create a page which recommends services for hosting forum images, and mention this in the error message you get when you try to use imgur. Other than TalkImg, which ones are good?
