A little paranoid, but I believe there have been recorded cases of 'factory new' drives with malware on them.

Like the above said, it can't hurt.

the tablet hasn't arrived yet, just getting the usb drive ready Smiley Hopefully formatting won't be too difficult for a techophone. I've never done it before.

It's only a £55 tablet but I'll store photos on & it & use it for non-internet tasks.

Just to be sure nothing is on it? It doesn't hurt to try.

So your bought a 2nd computer, are you going to throw it away after finishing storing your Bitcoins cold?

I am making a paper wallet & using a 2nd computer which has never been connected to the internet. My question is when I go to transfer the bitaddress.org files from the 1st computer to a USB flash drive, do I need to format the pen drive even if it is brand new & has never even been out of the packaging. Someone told me I should but I don't understand why.
