I have 5 x 580 connected to my evga 750 and it runs stable.

Best thing to do, get yourself a Kill a Watt, Home Depot carries them, Amazon as well https://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU

Measure how much your usage increases when you add a card while mining!

Understand your power supply efficiency and then decide if you have room left to add another.
Good read bout efficiency:

can my evga g2 750w gpu power this or is it to much?solo mining and some undervolting
asrock pro btc with g3260,2x4 gb ddr3,120 gb  ssd,2x rx 570 nitro+ and 2x rx 570 pulse

four cards no

three cards  yes

to do four  you would need careful undervolt via msi afterburner

Reason that you cant?

Yes you can, in fact, you can do 6 cards as well, but there is not enough cables for most of 750w psu to do that.
