If i took the case and fans off of my S3's and put them in an air cooled environment this would draw less power correct? So in other words could doing that make them more cost effective to keep running?

This is just an idea and if its dumb please just try and not ripping me a new one ()().... Wink

Thanks again guys.
no no no no. dumb dumb dumb.

All kidding aside if you want to do a mod buy this fan .  Buy only one for  the pull  side keep the stock for push.

lower the freq from 218 or 225  down to 212 or 206

the gear will be very quiet. runs cooler  here is a chart of 2 s-3s at freq 212

This pair of s-3's has run none-stop since July 23rd-26th 2014.  They are in my friends office. More then 10 months run time batch 1 machines

You need some kind of active airflow to remove the heat.  Besides, that little fan is not what is costing you the electricity... that would be those power-hungry ASICs Smiley

If you can mix airflow with underclocked chances are the best outcome.  Just use fan's not AC to cool them.

One advantage with underclocked S3 is quiter when running.

Only thing really is to underclock.   You can do this and get a little more life out of them.

The S3 will also put out less heat this was, so less cooling is needed.  Not to mention it will be more quiet.
Thank you @notlist, i am only asking that because i already have the air cooled room thats why i was wondering. What about underclocking and no fans ect? Would that be more cost effective all around?
