About safety of your personal data stored online you can never be sure. But here is a choise - to take a risk or stay in a safe place. There always be news about leaking of data, it's inevitable.
I input my passport and driver licence numbers to verify my account, and no problem so far.

probably not. https://cointelegraph.com/news/bittrex-leaks-user-passports-in-support-emails-says-russian-telegram-channel
there has been a couple of incidents like this where they just leaked your information online.

and also there is nothing stopping them from selling your personal information online to whoever wants to buy it and do it multiple times.
and that is not something unheard of from people who simply scam thousands of users out of a lot of money.

I can say yes. But one day if anyone hacks bittrex they can get your personal details. That is only issue for centralized exchanges.

It's no different than your employer, bank, courthouse, or anything else. It is part of crypto now.

There is ALWAYS a risk in giving out private information like driver license information and social security numbers on the net. Is the form secure? I cannot think it would not be. But if not, the information can be intercepted by third party.

Also, you are in the hands of Bittrex. I am sure they have some routines to handle personal information to comply with regulations but still. All it takes is one rotten employee to abuse your information. Not saying in will happen, but nothing is 100% secure.

But if you are going to transfer your hard-earned money to them anyway then why not? I just do it. someone is bound to make a mistake so that my personal information will be all over the internet at some point Sad

A very small probability of breaking Bittrex is possible, and it means that theft of your personal data is possible. But your driver's license, this is the last thing that should excite you in this situation.

Well I submitted my national ID AND passport to them just to get my account verified. It took more than a month for the verification to complete but thankfully it pushed through. It is safe however no one knows until when since there is always a high possibility that these exchanges could be hacked knowing that they're a hot target for hackers and scammers alike.

If you are willing to have an account in most of the major cryptocurrencies exchange, you will probably need to provide them some of your personal informations. That's how this works for most of those companies (search about KYC).

Bittrex is one of the major exchanges, so it's not that bad.
