I guess the casino campaigns have some years left but I don't see many other sectors that are going to be interested in advertising here, as they have so many alternatives.
The forum losing ground to the thousands other crypto sites out there nowadays. New users coming into the space won't likely start their journey here anymore.
Maybe if someone is doing a deep dive into bitcoin they might end up creating an account on Bitcointalk, but normies investing in "crypto" will likely stay on the platforms they already know
(like Reddit or X).
In addition to that you have hundred of new crypto news websites, blogs and chat groups popping up every day. And when it comes to altcoins, the forum has completely lost its relevance. In 2017 and earlier, there were tons of legit projects that advertised here, while today the founders don't even know about Bitcointalk anymore.
It's sad, since I really like this place, but I doubt this trend can be stopped.
As Metallica's song goes, "you know it's sad but true, sad but true." The question at this point in time is, how can we make bitcointalk.org relevant again? How can we make bitcointalk.org great again?
Such is a hard thing to answer when Bitcoin is more
$71,000 and less
decentralized, peer-to-peer, electronic cash system. But I'm hoping that "normies" investing in Bitcoin observes the bare minimum in due diligence-- knowing what you're investing in. It isn't even a deep dive that's required. They know Bitcoin, they must know Satoshi, they might be led here because Satoshi was never on Twitter or Reddit but on this forum.
It seems altcoins these days aren't about technicalities but marketing and images. The most solid of them all like Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero were like bitcointalk babies. In the age of jpegs and inscriptions and investments, this forum might not be that relevant anymore. It's mass marketing that they need. They don't find it here. They can find it on social media.
