Great point! It would be nice not to have to run these wallet clients and since I don't "mine bitcoin" or anything else (i.e. litecoin, feathercoin, etc.), why should I? And this is why this addon is interesting to me. But does it do what I want? Hell I don't know.
Which brings up another issue that I may have to try to address in another forum - but why do I have to pay transaction fees when I'm running clients that process transactions for free? Is there a way that I can setup my standard btc client to refuse to process payments when I am not receiving a fee? That would only be fair....

I don't feel completely comfortable running a client that's got open access to the net when I cannot be sure of exactly what information that client is sending. And I noticed the there's a new firefox 7 & chrome addon that you can keep your wallet in.
But I am wondering how does it do this?
1. Does it run a btc client program on my computer (in the background)?
or 2. does it use the blockexplore service to run the client and just keep my wallet up to date for me? Thus using little to no resources on my computer... etc.
3. What exactly does this app do?
Anyhow, below is the info that's listed on the firefox site about the addon. Please tell me your thoughts on this. Thanks!
