Hi, I'm sure this is a pretty straightforward question with a straightforward answer, but I couldn't find an exact thread on this. So, for my Electrum wallet, I am expecting a larger payment today, I gave my receiving address to the other person two days ago, I opened my wallet today and the receiving address listed is different than the one I gave two days ago yet I have not sent or received any bitcoin in that timeframe. My question is, that receiving address that I gave out two days ago is still unused, and even though the current one showing is different, the unused address I gave out the other day is still ok to receive the payment to, correct? Sorry if this is an incredibly basic question, I just wanted some quick confirmation before I have the payment sent, ya know? TIA.
You can reuse addresses as much as you want. It's just privacy that ensure that the same address is not suggested more than once. So it is fine to use the same address again.
It's only the private keys that you don't want to leak from these addresses as they are what give you access to the fund sstored. However, the seeds and passwords in your wallet encrypt these private keys.
