government no
insurers yes

reason: government stop activity/freedoms, whilst insurance protect against loss.

Mmm nah , not really.
If Media starts speaking about Bitcoin goods instead of speaking about drugs and weapons (Silk road) and simillar bullshits that would increase the number of Bitcoiners . Most of people see it as a danger and scam .

Oh definitely. Having a backing sure helps. Maybe some form of regulation whereby if there is a claim of bankruptcy due to hacks, a proper investigation can be conducted. Also if there is a requirement to have accounting audit to maintain credibility that would certainly give that level of confidence to the users.

You would probably get more and better answers if you did more than just post a question every few days and disappear.

Since when would governments offer insurance. That would be up to insurances companies wouldn't it? Regardless, bitcoin users will increase over time and so will services and products to help you  secure or insure your coins.
