Topic: quiet gpu's to mine with? (Read 1160 times)
The Sapphire HD 5770 GPUs are relatively quiet. Ordinarily they run at 172 MH/sec but when overclocked to 960 MHz and with poclbm -w 128 they yield 202 MH/sec.
I don't see why it should be difficult, they makes blocks, no?
hi, has anyone managed to build a rig with water cooled xfx5970's ?
I have 3 water cooled rigs already ... 4 6950's....so I am already pretty aware of the block issues with reference/non ref cards

That looks sweet, but I have one question ... why are there two xfire bridges connecting those two cards? I've heard you should use both and I've heard that you should only use 1 bridge between 2 cards.
I got some weird flickering with xfire connector, so I tried 2 and they went away.

I heard on This Week in Computer Hardware that you have to be careful buying a water cooler for a card you already own because there are little differences in how each manufacturer makes their version of the 6950 or whatever. In fact, I've seen posts in which people say the new GPU heat sink they bought for a card didn't fit quite right. I think that is probably caused by the same issue.
If I went to water cooled GPUs, I'd only go with a pre-made setup.
For the record, my pair of 6950s with fans cranked up are loud as heck.

Powercolor makes passive cooling 6850's. They also make a single slot 6850.

The rig is already partially watered ... no room for anymore heat to dissipate though.

Go with a 6870 XFX card.. you will get about 289 MHassh. They run cool.

I want some semi decent gpu's to mine with ... i've got space for 2-3 gpu's, but i'd like them somewhat quiet. Not silent, but somewhat silent.
I was hoping to get 200-300+ M/s each if possible too.
any recommendations?
