Noise reduction and bitcoin mining are incompatible things. You want noise reduction you buy a mining contract.

They're not completely incompatible. I sleep in the same room as my mining rig and have no problems. It's pretty damn quiet even at 100% utilization.

What is the quietest case you could put a bitmining rig into?

it is called "Server Room".

Sorry anything else wont work except for hobby / trial usage. You need tons of power = tons of heat = tons of noise to move heat out. Point.

If you think you have a problem - i dont want to stand in the server room of vladimir or the one I plan at the moment for quite some racks Wink

I am running this case: http://amzn.to/lgHjr4

I love it.  Great ventiliation, and fits 3 cards easy.  I modified mine a bit to fit a 4th GPU in there.  Its fairly quite for a mining rig

Depending on how many cards you plan on putting in the machine, you may want to consider going caseless for heat issues.  But I agree with ensign, you can't beat Newegg for great reviews...

Somewhat related to your question, 5850s are pretty quiet. My XFX ones can run at 290 Mhash/sec and automatically keep their fans down at about 30-40% (running at 85 celcius), so that's pretty awesome.

So if you're going for quiet, definitely go 5850 as your video card.

As far as cases, just read newegg reviews. Usually loud ones will have many reviews saying they are loud, whereas quiet ones won't have any mention of noise (since people won't put that their case is quiet usually).

With cost aside which one is it?

Considering cost - a cheaper case and buying noise reduction padding and installing yourself?
