Should have read it more careful but I don't see why one wouldn#t be able to flash the bios of the 290X?

You can easily flash the BIOS of your gpus to undervolt them.

Won't work. That's only for 7xxx series cards, and then the 280x. The 290/290x aren't supported.

Undervolting doesn't affect the speed.
IF you follow the posted tutorial you can't do anything wrong.

tried to look that bios flash but looks bit complicated to me since im in no means expert
and would it affect the max speeds?
since i can put the "leafblower" to run 85% when not home so about 10h a day and it hits the 980kh/s at that time
when kids/wife sleeping i can put it to 62%fan and that gets me around 890kh/s on like 88c
so the 45% fan setting will be on only like 4-6hours a day but i want ot maximize it also ofc Smiley

update on speeds i got up to 700khs at 735/1500/i20/powertune 30% fan 46% 89c

So the fan of Sapphire r9 290x is really loud and my wife dosnt want it to run more then 45% speed
so currently i run it 725/1250 i20 and it gives me 680khs @ 89c (85% fan 1022/1500 i20 gives like 980kh/s 88c but sounds like a jet engine)
just wondering if someone has some has some higher khs settings without temperature +noise problems

That seems pretty hot, could you get a 3rd party fan on it? Even the silent 120mm fans would help. I'd suggest putting this thing in the basement or out of the way so you can put some extra cooling on this thing.
I'd also flash the bios to let me undervolt, which helps tremendously
