Hello, I have heard that the xfx brand 7950's are shit for mining.  Does XFX have poor performance with there whole line of gpus or just the 7950?  Does anyone have an explanation as to why this could be? They all use the same gpu how does the manufacture vary that much in performance?  What are some good brands to look for in the r9 290 series?  I only ask because I have mostly used 69xx series cards, I purchased some 7950 cards and they worked great for btc, but they shit on ltc.  They were xfx series cards.  I am now shopping for a R9 290 and don't want to make the same mistake again.

I'm not familiar with gpu mining but am looking to enter the landscape very soon....I think I've read around that those cards cannot be undervolted without being unlocked which is why they are less desired.  Could someone else please verify the accuracy of that?
