This is neither racism, or us being rude. We are sorry you feel that way.

This is us following the laws we need to if we want to continue operating our business

If you are a citizen of The UAE then submit an application with an ID from that country.

1. Wasn't rude
2. Wasn't racist

Honestly if you think this response is any of those 2 things than I honestly don't know how you function in real life.

You got denied for submitting a passport from Syria, a country that has been sanctioned by the US dating back 30 or so years. Cryptsy is based in the US and is already on shaky ground due to the fact they deal in crypto.

Now in the video you mention being in UAE, why is your friend still using a Syrian passport if he's now a citizen of the UAE?

EDIT: Wtf, who bumped this thread from February

All cryptos are FIAT digital currency. Do not use.
@OP

You should stop trying to use crytpsy as a tool to fundraise money for the IS, it is not legal. You will put all cryptocurrency in a bad light with your actions, please stop it. Thanks

Then how are Obomba and his bankster buddies getting away with it ?

Could it be because they are a bunch of fascist nazi funding maggots ?

Well, in regards to the above post, the current capitalist endeavors are pushing really really hard to paint BTC and any other form of crypto currencies to be terrorism related.  While some of the big banks actually acknowledge that crypto ledgers lol BTC are the future, the old school banks are going I slow progress in that direction any chance they get.  American capitalism at its finest.  Something you have, make or do is cheaper than the guy down the street?  Lobby local, state, and federal governments to make your competitors methods unlawful.  Been going on since he dawn of time.  Hence the large campaign contributions and such.  Banks will someday die.  But they'll go down fighting.  Not in my lifetime, but my son?  Absolutely.

And this exchange was started by at least one US military murder service member. eg. Big Vern

That said, the OP's experience is/was to be expected when dealing with people who despise humanity.

What happened here has nothing to do with racism. Honestly are you surprised that a country won't break the sanctions law just to cater to you?

I understand you're upset. Still a better thread title would be "Racist & Rude  - My
experience of dealing with US sanctions". I would agree 100% with you there.

Certainly not. But that's not exactly what Cryptsy did.

And you also have to factor in that Cryptsy's support is shitty as always. If they don't answer or answer in a
non-professional way, this doesn't necessarily mean it's because of your nationality.

First, they are just following the law in rejecting you. That you dislike the concept of national
states etc is another topic, for which you might address politicians but not Cryptsy.

Second, I agree they should have answered in a more friendly way, that would have been
better. Also they apparently made a mistake when they used the word resident instead
of national. I'm sure they meant the latter as this is about following the US sanctions
which are nationality-bound (one can argue about this, sure.. But, again, not with Cryptsy.)

Still, there is nothing racist about their behaviour and I also wouldn't call it rude. A bit
unprofessional, but not exactly rude.

but you are of syrian nationality?

that is irrelavent, I'm a human being first!

i said i understand the law says they can't deal with me, but they didn't have to be so rude about it

they said : "The entire country of Syria is sanctioned by the US, and we are not willing to do business with any Syrian residents."

for a start I am not resident in Syria I live in the UAE since 12 years

second if they gave a shit about customer relations they should say something like

"we are very sorry but US law does not allow us to deal with people of your nationality"

that would not be rude, but their response was, can you not see the difference?

I don't get the problem. You are syrian, so why do you mention UAE at all in your support
email.  I first thought you are upset as they have mistaken your UAE passport for a Syrian
one. But if I got it right now you are rejected as Cryptsy doesn't want to do business with
Syrians at this time. They can decide as they like. No need to blame Cryptsy for racism or anything.

Cryptsy is more than willing to do business with just about anyone regardless of their nationality, race, etc. However if they want to continue exchanging coins for USD they must follow the racist and discriminatory rules the US government imposes or face their demise.

That's life man, don't let it put you down, things will change one day for the better I hope.
The very concept of a 'nation' is racist, we're all guest here, but unfortunately the people in power don't see it that way and exercise entitlement.

In a world of peaches, don't ask for apple sauce
Regarding the video, I doubt it's the fault of the employee itself. Most (if not all) customer support workers just spell out whatever the company follows. If the company doesn't want to deal with Syrian citizens, the employees say so.

Regarding the racism, I believe that Cryptsy (and many other Bitcoin or cryptocurrency exchanges, especially the bigger ones and in the US) is in a position where drawing any more attention from the government is the last thing they want, so if the US government puts sactions on a country, they go an extra mile to avoid any possible trouble dealing with the citizens of said country to avoid any further intervention in said business. Also, it doesn't matter where you are currently living, your citizenship is what nationality you will be considered to be as faking IPs is as easy as a click of a button.

Also, I don't exactly find their response rude.  From the emails shown, they aren't insulting the user, making any racist comments or any kind of remarks. I get much worse shit shoveled on me almost everyday by various forum users and I just ignore it. Yes, it was cold, but it's a business and customer support answer questions straight forwardly since the volume of questions is often overwhelming.
