The 7950 has 87.5% of its Processing Units which equates to 568.75MHash/s at the same core clock (MHz).
Is this calculation valid?
I know from reading website reviews they reported the 7950 is not built as strong as the 7970 (pcb, fan). That could be a factor in getting the same core clock.
I like what I'm seeing with those numbers. :-)
If this keeps up,I'd be happier is seeing what the HD7990 could do when released. You could get a 1GHash/s card in 1 slot at last I bet.Anyways back to the HD7950,this certainly looks like a large step up from my HD6950 which was shader unlocked and overclocked heavily (885MHZ core stable,320MHZ mem clock) which gives me 400MHash/s (is that good for my card or poor?)
At stock speeds with unlocked shaders the HD6950 does like 360MHash/s (I think,as the reading was taken last summer and I forget exactly what the setup was like then) for me. Is there a spec link for the HD7950 as I'd like to learn more about it? I wish I could trade up my card for a HD7950 (or HD7970 as I prefer better performance)
