I have 2 Cards with 16,7 - 16,9 Mh  Tongue

I will try the new claymore version this weekend.

Hi,

just tried it, I started at 2150MHz, no memory errors, but Claymore reports incorrect shares...just for kicks, tried at
2230 (as in 1st post), but it only displayed result once (15.7 before auto dcri detect, so probably 16+ after)
before it hanged and I had to reboot rig

Strap generally seems like relaxed timings compared to mine, so no idea what could be the cause

Just restarted and trying at 2120, hash is 15.25, but still some incorrect shares


Edit: after some more testing, incorrect shares even at 2080...but I think its not that memory can't handle
frequency or straps too tight, but has to be some conflict

Well, power settings are totally different, so I guess your card lacks additional PCI-E power connector...also, weird clocks reported by SRBpolaris editor,
often means new RX560 card with less shaders and possibly lower rated (1500 instead 1750MHz memory)...if memory is 1750MHz though, you could
use last (2000MHz) strap from my bios, although, as I said, it acts weird on win10 version 1803, I had to lower frequency considerably, and atiwinflash
not working anymore, too

Or you can buy a BIOS that fit your card from a site mentioned in the guide.
Other option is to buy PBE 2 BIOS modding editor but be advised - it make sence only if you are going to mod many other cards.

Thats because of this (from 11.3 upwards):

"- added assembler kernel for RX550 card. This card is not good for dual mining, but in ETH-only mode ASM kernel is faster by about 7%."

RX560 assembler kernel was added long ago, more than half a year I think (version 9.7)

I'm still using v.10.5.
I've tried v.11.2 but there was no ETH hashrate increase. Also I doubt about v.11.x stability after I've read some forum posts.

I am struggling to get stable settings with 11.5
It really has performance premium, but even OLDKERNEL switch did not restore stability.
But as it is a test rig I am trying different approaches. Do not plan to have 15+ hashrate unless you are extremely lucky ;-)

    I have RX 560 Gaming OC 4G rev.2 card. Memory type identified in BIOS is just the same but strap that work so nice for rev. 1.0 card is not really better then original unmodified for the card. Anything above 14 Mh got unstable. So I reverted back to PBE timings that at least get 14.6 Mh/s stable. Not too much :-(

I had a negative experience with BIOS update, firmware fell and had to carry to the service center for the recovery. You have to be careful.

You can usually do it yourself, if you have another card, or onboard video

But of course, always be careful about what you're doing

that is usually same for same memory manufacturers

(and I have no idea whats inside that one)

What core freq do you use? I have problems with stability with the card until I lower core to 1100 and undervolt it to 775, after that I've got memory to 2100 (with PBE timings, not Branko)
Usually I start testing using the following conditions:
CV: 800mV
PL: +25
CC: 1150MHz
MC: 1950MHz

"with PBE timings" - PBE timings usually work fine for me as well

"-80" means the highest possible data rate in the series - 8.0 Gb/s.
So GPUs with such memory should give a good hash rate. Seems, we just need a strap with proper timings.  Wink

That's the answer why the msi aero and gigabyte gaming behaves in a similar way - they use the same memory chip.

D9VVR is MT51J256M32HF-80:B

Now that is interesting...your ordinary GB seems to have 1500MHz chips, so no wonder it doesn't work good,
but these with D9VVR if that's indeed MT51J256M32HF-80:B should work even better than my cards, as
that indicate 2000MHz chips...now you got me curious enough to go buy one, but lucky as I am,
I'll probably get one with 1500MHz Hynix Smiley

2. The 'Compute Workloads' can't be switched on for some of my GPUs for some reason
3. The 'Radeon Settings' software is f'cking sloooooow and extremely f'cking inconvenient (I was very close to smashing my laptop, waiting while the next UI screen is being opened after a button is clicked)
4. I've not managed to get acceptable hashrates
5. Rolled back to the blockchain edition drivers

original old blockchain driveers are known to draw more power
Seems, power consumption is approximately the same for the both.

Branko, what exact version of the drivers do you use, please?

There are at least two versions of that card (rev 1 and rev 2, my bios is for rev 1)...quite possible there are new revisions with less shaders, too

Thats the first time it happened to me. I give a look on the internet and there is all this story about unlocking the shaders and so on, and a lot of people unable to flash the bios.
Got me thinking, I remove the fan , and there are 4 chip from Elpida ELPIDA/EDW4032BABG-70-F, that, according to the datasheet are 4 GB GDDR . Just to confirm I removed a 550 4 gb Asus, and it the same "configuration" but the chip are from micron.

So, What I have is probably a 4gb, cutted somehow in the bios to 2 gb.
In the process of copying the bios and restoring it something changed and now isn't working as 2 GB, even if its recognized as 2 gb from the miners

Is this possible or there is an easier solution to what happened ?

Its "safe" to try to install a stock bios of a 460 4GB on it ?
 


They're 4 gigaBITS, 4x4 gigabits = 16 gigabits = 2 gigabytes

Ok, I need some suggestion, and I thought that someone here may help me.

I purchased an used XFX 460 2 gb ( because I want to learn to make custom strap for cryptonight...) and I got it very cheap.

I tested "stock", and was giving 11 Mh on ubiq and 320 on Cryptonight

Then I saved the bios, baffin.rom, and  I open it with Polaris and used the one click function to move the strap from lower speed to the higher ones. Memory is Hynix and Elpida

I flash the bios, windows is ok  and  it hang in Claymore. And it hang in Xmr stack, GGS,Phoneix, and  any mining sw I can think of.

Of course I did  Wink However hashrate was ~1Mh/s worse than with the drivers I use.
Anyway, seems, it's time to try once again.

Its Micron only, it should work for other micron based cards, too
(strap at 2000MHz)

7C bigger average temperature...is it GB rx560 Rev1 with 2 fans and additional

Also, I'm using the latest version of HWinfo and blockchain edition of the amd drivers.
The fan speed is bigger because I use AB software fan control with custom fan speed curve.

PS. Today I'm going to test the strap on another GV-RX560 edition GPU. Will let you know the results later.

That one is rev.2, its worse than rev 1, but interesting that it actually draws more power...maybe
hwinfo actually measures only power drawn over pci-e slot, and don't add power drawn over additional connector?
Although that doesn't make much sense when you look at stronger cards that draw most of power
from additional connectors

7C bigger average temperature...is it GB rx560 Rev1 with 2 fans and additional
PCI-E power conenctor?

Also, I'm using the latest version of HWinfo and blockchain edition of the amd drivers.
The fan speed is bigger because I use AB software fan control with custom fan speed curve.

PS. Today I'm going to test the strap on another GV-RX560 edition GPU. Will let you know the results later.

I see you're running 1180mhz/890 mv core. Memory is at 2140mhz but what volts are you giving to it?
I think I have an RX 460 lying around, ill see how high it goes with this strap ...

I change 2000MHz on micron and 2000+2250 on hynix, because theres no point changing
lower straps...if for some reason default 1750MHz strap doesn't work, you have bricked card
that won't even boot...same goes for changing default frequencies in BIOS...if card won't work,
you'll get bricked card that you have to spend time to get back to working condition

Both memory and core are set to 875mV in BIOS (but memory is actually working at 2240 in my case  Grin )

Its Micron only, it should work for other micron based cards, too
(strap at 2000MHz)

Thats pretty crazy, I can't think about any other reason but bug in HWinfo, or
AMD driver giving wrong info in either your or my case

I've tested the strap on 2 GPUs:
1. Gigabyte GV-RX560OC-4GD - ETH 15.6MHz@2125 and hang@2150
2. MSI RX560 AERO ITX 4G OC - works unstable even at 1950MHz

I guess memory cooling is super important, judging from this...memory chips seem to draw a lot of power too
(about 50% of overall consumption in RX560 cards, I estimate, less for stronger rx570/580 GPUs),
and if you look at picture I took before I put cooling paste, its obvious even memory package suffers from heat:

original one is not good at all, etc)

I played a bit more and managed to get hashrate to flow between 16.5 and 17.1 in Phoenixminer, but with
some memory errors in HWinfo , so I consider this the best I managed to get)

How much for wall ?


30-45W, depending on algorithm...I have efficient platinum PSU, so a bit more if you use bronze, silver or gold

Hi Branko! I was using your old Micron strap in my Powercolor RX460 (with RX560 bios) with GatelessGate Sharp with 49/8/2 and performance is good. I'll try your newer bios, but I have issues with capacitors and my RX460/560 boots at 20% starts, so I have to fix it before.

It's really impressive what you reached. 16MH/s+ in a cheap board like this is awesome.
