Who of the Radeon Vii holders will dump their power hungry heaters on ebay for the new and improved AMD gpu's coming out this summer. Will radeon Vii prices tank hard in the next 12 months?

Are the new AMD's that much better ? they always promise huge leaps and ALWAYS underpeform vs Nivida cards of the same class, thier advantage was always price and thats gone too with the 16x class from team green
You can now try to create your speculation about that, a lot of people (me too) are waiting for the release of the AMD NAVI. I could say based on various tech sites and the price looks very cheap compared with its performance will be in the same tier as RTX series. Some sites were saying if that will be really cheap.

Well, they still smash anything nvidia has on offer for all CN-based algos... which incidentally are regularly trading blows at the top of the profitability charts at the moment.

Have you seen the announcement for the new Pro Vega II and Pro Vega II Duo's? So far for Apple's latest Mac Pro. But interesting nonetheless.

In the place where I live, electricity is less then $0.08 and I can get 10 second-hand (6-12 months used) moded RX470 4GB (29Mh/s per GPU) for the price of one R7, so it is 300 Mh/s against 90 Mh/s for the same money.
But what about the electricity? But for some reasons rx470 has a limitation to mine crypto with large size of DAG file, right? But I prefer to get some rx480 rather than Rx470 4 GB.
My country it costs 0.1 for KWh
It may become a surprise for you, but rx470 can mine not only ETH.
Nowadays the best ROI you can get if you can buy cheap second hand GPUs. Of course 8GB better than 4GB but you need to look at quality of each GPU, the price and may be any other factors before make a decision.

Horror. Again, gamers will not get their new video card. Thank you very much for the tests. Maybe try to put a couple of these cards.

Would be funny to see a video of the AMD dev labs showing a pile of burnt out prototype vega 2 cores that didnt have enough thermal protection lol there is a right up somewhere about the increased temp sensors on dye they calling the hottest one "junction temp" which activates throttling to prevent expensive fires.

" the throttling starts due Tjunction temperature above 110°C. From the relesed data is known that the VII chip has 64 thermal sensors and throttling starts regadless which of these sensors report high temperature."

"From the screens I have seen at YT channel by DerBauer is clear that vapor chamber has been cut and surface is quite flat. Replacing thermal compound even with liquid metal may help a bit, but the primary cause here seems to be not just the type of thermal paste/TIM but the pressure distribution."

thinking about the "washer mod" but want to exhaust software options first as one of those screws has a warranty sticker covering it.

There are plenty of vii's in stock as of today i guess if the bull run continues and Eth smashes $500 there will be a stampede to GPU mining again so I tossed a coin when Eth at $250 and grabbed 4 while getting is good didnt seem any point carrying on with rx580 now. Today is warmest day of year so far in UK and these gpu's seem go flaky above 110C best below 100C just had first one crash out and when they go seem to sit at 15Mhs still needs a system reboot as usual and maybe ten seconds at least "off" to let the silicon settle down usual stuff. I am going to go back to windows for a bit so can run them cooler till get ubuntu radeon profile working and beyond that some HW mods im not keen on just yet to improve cooling.

Yep on mtp zcoin im getting 3.5 - 3.6 mhash @ 150 watt 65 tdp.  This spanks the vega vii which according to vosk does 3.3 @ 265 watt @ $700

Plus you can get a 2080 rtx amp on b@h for $650 now on sale today.
Vosk you need to do a review of the 2080 rtx and show people the light.  Need to change this title also to 2080 rtx best most efficient gpu ever!

If there is something I've learned past these 15 years is, never use more than 180 watts in a gpu. If the radeon vii cant hash efficiently x the competition around 180 watts then is a fail for me.

R vii is designed to run hot it has lots of temp sensors to determine the junction temp and its a bit scary at first but my three vii's sit happy at 109C i dont like it and working to lower the heat by undervolting but Radeon vii delivers over 200% performance over RX 580 i cant compare to nvid as never used them but its not to be sniffed at so dive in I did......

using claymore 14.6 in Eth mode only under Lubuntu 18.04.2 with Kernel v15.0 amdgpu-pro-19.10-785425-ubuntu-18.04

RX580 x 4  = 130Mhs / 940W <---- optimised undervolting and m straps
R vii x3 = 260Mhs / 1000W   <---- this is not yet optimised expecting efficiency improvements 10-20% basically kicks ass but hot out of the box!

TBF With Eth above $250 it makes GPU mining possible again but need to see Eth reach and exceed $500 to get these paid back in any sort of realistic time.... Heres to a great speculative hobby and to late reminder bills from the electric company...  Grin Cool

If I can run mine that hot i'm impressed, I was getting frustrated trying to keep them under 80 degrees.

If u have free power maybe , that wattage is atrocious lol , anything for sponsor clicks I guess lol

A 2080 kills it in every algo except eth (dying) xmr(/shrug) and uses half or less in power

300 ways for 90mhs of eth even is trash to me, 3 470s worth half the price of that Vega 7 do same hash at less power.

The 2080 is a far better gpu

Dont forget to count other power consumption cpu+mobo+,ram, even at 3.5mhs/150w only got 1.1$ still suck compared vega 56 which is 1.4$ at the same power consumption 650$ vs 300$ card lol, on different algo, radeon vii still the best at this very moment vosk dont know how to use it

Another AMD team  fanboy.  I'll check those stats tonight i find it hard to believe a vega56 out beats a 2080rtx.  I did use mtp as a comparison but mtp is not the most profitable coin to mine.  Raven/Grin appears to be at the moment for team green.

And even if you are right which i doubt.  I still got ray tracing for games or doing some visual production work on my spare time.  Something to really consider if mining ends up being unprofitable your going to have much higher resale value with team green

*update i checked what to mine*  Not even 2x vega 56 can outbeat a 2080 rtx at a very cheap electric rate of  0.08 cent according to whattomine. 1 vega 56 card gives 79 cents income before electric and 31 cents  after electric.  2080 rtx gives $1.10 before electric and 74 cents after electric. If your electric rate is higher than 8 cents the 2080 rtx will simply outperform even more.  You must be one of those trolls living in your moms basement with free electric

Was it meant for the memory clock to be higher in the efficient setting?  Is there a reason behind that?

AMD has released the most powerful GPU for mining cryptocurrency.. ever. The Radeon VII has the most impressive hashrates we have ever seen mining with a single GPU thanks to its 16gb of HBM2 VRAM. Today we will go through what makes the Radeon 7 the most powerful GPU for mining, we will review the best mining overclock settings, as well as the best miners to use. We will review the most profitable coins to mine with the Radeon VII such as Ethereum, Monero, Zcoin, Ravencoin, Grin, Beam, and discuss other possible cryptocurrency coins to mine with this graphics card.

At this moment  vega 56 cost around 240$ second hand
Profit only 1.4$/gpu with electric price 0.1$ and power consumption 0.36$ = so the profit just 1$/gpu vega 56, dont know about best Nvidia right how much they earn

Not sure how you came to the conclusion that this is the "BEST MOST POWERFUL GPU FOR MINING EVER".  Maybe its just for retarded clickbait, but this really shows how out of touch with GPU mining you actually are.
