Winner is a brand new account with 1 post
Dev said he would re-do the drawing in 7 days if the winner did not respond.
Nine days later, he has not picked a new winner, and says he'll give the winner until Monday to respond
Winner suddenly responds shortly after, right before Monday ends

Convenient.

Dev likes to boast legitimacy by "randomly" arranging the participants in a spreadsheet and using a random number generator.  However, the number is "seeded" with a pre-selected phrase, so he could have easily known the number days before the drawing, and "randomly" arranged the spreadsheet to ensure his buddy (or himself under a different account) wins the raffle.

Now the dev is banned . . . something smells fishy

I was thinking the same thing. It seems like it was a scam from the get go.

I would like to get the next Maieuticoin raffle going ASAP, and since this is a new account with one post, I'm going to give him a week to respond. If I don't hear back from him by September 10th, I will ask for his address to refund him his entry fee and redraw. I don't want to open another raffle before this one has its order placed

If this was a more active account, I wouldn't use the week time limit, but for some reason I have a feeling he may not come back on and see my message...and I really don't want to have to put the next one on hold while we wait for one guy that may or may not come back on. Looks like he only logged in twice, ever, so here's hoping his main account sees this!

Thanks to everyone who entered. These raffles are going great! We sold this one out in under 6 days! That's awesome!!

I was wondering about that since you posted his activity. Well let's hope it doesn't come down to that.

Sorry I'm a little late. Accidentally scrapped the list and had to rebuild it

I'm sure you guys all want to know the winner....So first, let me explain how a winner is picked

1) Go to http://www.random.org/integers/

2) Switch to Advanced Mode

3) Configure to look like this:

4) The randomization string will be MMXIV evolves to Maieuticoin

Produces our random number of....57

5) We then take that number and apply it to the entries spreadsheet located here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1OR8iqI7GsAvNqwLWfbYrlnhm0CaOdm9qlVUvvOChhQ8

Which gives us our winner...

Congratulations to.....CapnHappen

These steps can be verified independently to produce the same result. I see this is an account with only one post asking for an address, so hopefully he is watching this thread. Please PM me your shipping details as soon as possible so I can get your units ordered. I've also sent a PM to try to make sure you know you won

CapnHappen, please respond as soon as possible

Oh shit. Only 2 tickets left. Didn't even realize we were this close to being sold out already! Last raffle took 10 pages in the thread and like 3 weeks to sell out. We are only on page 2 and day 6 for this raffle!

Great job everyone. Thanks for participating. I'll keep doing these, too, since it seems like interest is growing each time  Smiley

I'll take the last 2.  Done. Cool

You're a champ, thanks!

Raffle is sold out. Please do not send more coins

Wasn't expecting it to sell out this fast! We will do the drawing early next week, I'll figure out the best time this weekend to get the most people on at once to make sure it's a fair drawing. I have to scramble up the list and stuff still anyway. This round took less than 6 days to fully sell out! Great job everyone!

Thanks to everyone who participated! Those of you watching, but haven't joined in, yet, we have a BTC Raffle going on right now!

Definition
Maieutics is a pedagogical method based on the idea that truth is latent in the mind of every human being due to innate reason but has to be "given birth" by answering intelligently proposed questions (or problems)

Maieutic Origin
The idea is reminiscent of the 4th century BC philosopher Plato. In the Symposium and Theaetetus dialogues, Plato discusses the Socratic method, a form of inquiry and debate between individuals with opposing viewpoints based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to illuminate ideas. It is a dialectical method, often involving an oppositional discussion in which the defense of one point of view is pitted against the defense of another; one interlocutor may lead another to contradict himself in some way, strengthening the inquirer's own point. As to maieutics, it is based on Plato's theory of recollection (anamnesis), so that it holds that knowledge is latent in the conscious mind, awaiting discovery. This discovery is sought through dialectic and in contrast to Plato's theory, through inductive reasoning rather than deductive

In Theaetetus, the basic question is "What is knowledge?". Theaetetus is a young student of mathematics who proposed three definitions that are refuted by Socrates, according to whom, knowledge cannot be defined as a perception, nor as a true opinion, nor as an explanation besides a true opinion. Socrates debates these arguments from a critical point of view by posing more questions, but never poses a conclusion on the matter of knowledge itself

As presented by Plato
In philosophy, maieutic concepts historically have their origin in Plato's dialogues of Socrates

In The Symposium, Socrates repeats the words of the priestess or wise woman Diotima of Mantinea who suggested that the soul is pregnant and wants to give birth, but the delivery requires assistance. Thus according to Plato, the role of the philosopher is to assist in this delivery, as would a midwife. From this dialogue comes the word "maieutics", the "spiritual midwife."

In Theaetetus, Socrates is presented as a "spiritual midwife" and in Meno, by posing questions to a slave who never learned geometry, Socrates leads him to “remember” how a square is doubled

Orphism
Maieutics is an evolution of the technical methods of Orphism. They were based on the idea of reminiscence and the practice of Catharsis especially developed by Pythagoras

Maieutics consists in the belief that there is somehow a knowledge that is stored in the mind by tradition and the experience of past generations. Therefore, maieutics invites the individual to discover the truth that is latent in a person

So I can say that I at least asked, I assume MMXIV is some new coin your trying to promote or something. Anyway, can entrance be bought using BTC and at how much per ticket as of my reply ?

Just use your BTC to buy some MMXIV on Bittrex - https://bittrex.com/Market/?MarketName=BTC-MMXIV

One MMXIV per entry into the raffle, MMXIV is trading at around 0.015 BTC
Not worth the hassle but ty.

Would be easier if the op just accepted btc.

The OP is the dev of MMXIV and does the raffles as a promo for his coin.

You should really get this out on Twitter as well - not going to get enough interest I think from just BitcoinTalk alone

We sold out last time just using the forums. We could use some chat box attention though

True, but it took three weeks to get 25 people, and now the price is 2x more per ticket.  It's just a suggestion - Twitter is starting to become the main communication method for a lot of new coins, due to the forums being so hard to wade through all the "junk" these days.

I'm not going anywhere so there's no rush from me. Would be nice to get the word out, though. Entry is only .02 BTC of MMXIV at current price

Shouldn't be in any rush they won't ship for over 3 weeks anyway.

The raffle covers the cost of 2 x S3 units on Bitmaintech.com at time of drawing

Quote from: Bitmaintech.com
Bitmain is proud to announce the sale of AntMiner S3 for 0.75 BTC each to include International shipping.  S3 is hashing at 478 GH/s while consumes 366 Watt power from the wall.

AntMiner S3 is the third generation Bitcoin mining rig made by Bitmain. It uses the state of the art BM1382 chip powered by the 28nm tech process with ultra-low power consumption, targeting the best combination of power efficiency and low capital expenditure for mining investors.

Specifications:

Hash Rate: 478 GH/s±5%

Power Consumption: 366 Watt at the wall

Power Efficiency: 0.77 J/GH on wall

Power Supply: 12V DC

Size:  331 mm x 137 mm x 160 mm

Fans: Two 14038 fans mounted on both front and back ends.

Operating Temperature: 0 °C to 35 °C

Complied with: FCC / CE

Network Connection: Ethernet

Notes:

Power consumption: This figure depends on the PSU efficiency, ambient temperature and the accuracy of the power meters.

PSU: You have to prepare your own the ATX PSU. The S3 ships without a PSU. There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input, but it only needs to connect two of them if without overclocking (PSU not included). Don’t parallel connected different DC input from different PSU into the same Hashing board.

Features:

Stand alone: The S3 mines stand alone, needs no proxy server.

Quiet: The customized heat sinks mounted to the hash boards, one box over S3 to control the air flow, two fans mounted on both front and back ends that mean fans are able to work at lower speed to dissipate all heat easily. This design let S3 run at much lower noise level.

Stable: Running 24 hours a day with minimal downtime.

Accurate: Hardware Error got from the sample unit rate is as low as 0.01%, hundreds times better than some competing products.

Efficient: High energy efficiency to save your investment on PSU and electricity bills.
