@bitstamp it seems not many want to sell at the moment  and buy wall looks good. We have 880-900 as base now it seems. Lets hope it builds up slowly towards 1k
After Christmas I am pretty confident for continuous of this rally after confirming these rock solid stable prices. Bitcoin is trading within narrow range for three days and hopefully this may signal another significant rally toward $1000 within this week. Four more days to new year still very confident to see $1000 price levels.

Right on my man, the way it has been holding 880-900 range for couple of days i am sure we will see 1k very  soon  . The interesting part will be how  market reacts  when we reach it . I for one am looking forward to finding out

Another things is that the weak hands will exit and long term holders will enter and go long. Most people sold at 1000 and now more people are selling as they ware thinking that price will move further down and they fear more loss if they do not sell.  I think They are wrong. Bitcoin will reach 1000$ again and it will even move further up this year.

Yes, I agree, this is very true with bitcoin, the very good thing holding with bitcoin compared to other thing.
One more thing, people who have less information with bitcoin are mostly the ones who sell in panic as they are not sure of the strength of bitcoin.

The recent price spike has nothing to do with the Chinese events and there is nothing to quote from china for the recent price of bitcoin,it is simply because of the market momentum and during Christmas we always see these sort of bubble if you check the charts and there is a feature in coindesk about the expected growth of bitcoin in 2017.
I disagree. There is a clear shift in market sentiment on December 19/20th. I'm curious about what event is driving that sentiment. Some opinion: http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-11-03/china-prepares-impose-curbs-capital-controls-bitcoin

Today (guess this is my answer):

Rally should not be a surprise. It's already gone through a tough bear market, and sentiment has recovered, everyone now is talking about the blockchain, the exchange became more legitimate, security has improved, press coverage has increased, the infrastructure continues to build, the technological progress in the face, investors have invested in the sector, financial institutions entered the fray, the government began to carry out regulation and we all learned a little more, and frankly, the chart is looking very sexy. Bitcoin is growing, and perhaps its potential is realized.
I agree but I believe these contributed to the steady climb to $800. This spike from $800 is entirely some events playing out in China, about which I haven't heard anything reasonable to explain it.

The price of Bitcoin is increasing exponentially and this will continue as long as 1BTC will cost from 20 to more than 100 thousand dollars.
Today we can observe the pace of change in all areas of public life, thanks to information technology. Crypto currencies are the next level for money and they spread exponentially, just like Email a few decades ago and ebooks a few years ago.

actually the rise has been mostly linearly if you look at the charts with some rapid movements temporarily. the exponential rise would have looked a lot different that how the charts are looking for the past two years. and you can not extrapolate the price of today and get the result of 100,000 USD! that is just absurd.

Bitcoin is all set to make massive moves in the coming months and it seems like this is just a beginning. It is good to make small movements and come back to test the new support levels. This is good when you look at the technical analysis portion.

if there is nothing good movement from the big owner of bitcoin then the price is not high until $1000 because its need more than just pump from the traders and we know this. but lets we hope that the price will be increase in the last day of 2016  Grin

This rally is looking weak now, cant crack $1000 and keeps sliding down. I think New years even is gonna suck because I was hoping for over $1000 and now im expecting the $920 range.

The price has gone up considerably already, so in that regard we have done exceptionally well. You can't just assume the price will continue to go up without experiencing corrections or slow periods where the price isn't moving much. I personally don't think we'll stay at current levels for very long as I expect to see $800's back, but enjoy current prices for as long as it's possible. It's a fantastic achievement that we manage to sit above $900's with the current poor level of buy support. But then again, it also depends on what price levels you entered the market. If you bought at current levels of ~$950, then yes, I understand why you aim at the price to reach $1000.

the "rally" is strong still. and what you see now is called correction. and correction is a part and parcel of any rise. whenever there is a rise like from $770 to $970 there must be some correction meaning price coming down due to traders selling their coins for profit.

nothing is sucking either Cheesy price has already gone up enough to be happy with a big profit.

China has just pushed the price to $937 where the USD exchanges are still considerably behind. Bitstamp is hovering around the $900 right now, while Bitfinex is dancing around the $910 level. From this point we'll either fall back to $870-$880 or we'll be heading further upwards. 50% chance. All eyes are on China as always. If they break through ¥6600 we might see a nice rush.
Whether today or tomorrow are two last day of the year, people expect to get $1000 as year-end celebration.
Well, the price past few days has been fluctuate and the highest may touch $970, and now the price still so close to, just need $40 to break point $1000. Yeah, we have 50:50 chance to see it by the end of the year.

rally is still rising highly.
Now it's nearly 900$ , maybe it will reach 1,000$ before new year of 2017.

Are you a future-teller?! Just three days passed and I see on YoBit the price 1030$ per 1 BTC. Isn't that a new year miracle? I know that YoBit has a habbit to make the price higher than it's really is, but it's good place to cash out your coins cause of that.

If anything, I believe that the holiday effect is people selling bitcoin to buy ¨real¨ gifts for their relatives.

this was also my speculation a week ago but it seems like it is a wrong speculation because people apparently are buying bitcoin to gift themselves with a big profit before entering the new year.

now i am expecting $1000 resistance to be broken soon enough.

Imagine doing this to a relative who is in great need, but then before he has gotten the chance to exchange them, the value has halved. Ouch... would you not rather take the buck in fee?

When does BTC suddenly loose half it's value? Never...

This isn't talk about some shitcoin..

I guess we will probably see a correction someday before it pumps higher. Bitcoin value will be more than 1000$ anyway so feel free to buy now. You won't regret it if you hold it a few years...

(I should have buy more 1 years ago. Damn it. I knew it !)

I am betting that 1000 USD is able to be achieved soon. I was not expecting bitcoin to make strong movements in this month as it is holiday season. But it seems like people are gifting bitcoin to their relatives  Roll Eyes Grin

Anyways, what ever the reason maybe, bitcoin to the moon! $1000 and more coming soon!

The trading volumes have increased, not dipped during the holiday season.
A rally with large volumes indicates that there is real support and it is not a pump by a few operators.

Looking at the charts, on December 20th we entered a new speculation bubble. What does that mean? Bitcoin is overbought but people continue to buy. The air is getting thinner, buy support further down is weakening. So what does it mean? Enjoy the ride and buy or sit back and relax.

The real question now is what's the driving force behind this?

I thought the rise would be over by the time we touched $900, but it seems now that this is just the beginning.
Hard to find real reason or all reason behind the current pump. Nothing big have happened recently that can trigger the price so i think most of the pump is coming with high speculation. It seems most of the bitcoin holders are looking for atleast $1000 to sell few of their coins. May be price will not stop pumping before it crosses $1000.

It could be because of the holiday season. Remittance from overseas workers can now be done via bitcoin, very easy and convenient. I think that affects the demand. I have encouraged my sister to do the same whenever she sends money to us. The fees are way lower and the transaction are faster. Not affected by holidays and special events unlike the regular method. Soon everybody will know bitcoin, and of course when everybody will use it, the better.

Imagine doing this to a relative who is in great need, but then before he has gotten the chance to exchange them, the value has halved. Ouch... would you not rather take the buck in fee?

It actually cost her about 60 Riyals for the money to be remitted if she will use the regular way, but thank you for the concern. Do you think the volatility will somewhere/sometime soon be not very much?

That's definitely not even a tiny bit part of the reason as to why the price has gone up. Sure, there are Bitcoiners giving a paper wallet containing a certain amount of coins as present, but the amounts are so small, that you don't even take it serious when you see what the amounts really are. In most cases $10 worth of coins is some sort of an ultimate max. I have been reading that people even give out $0.50 - $1 filled paper wallets. That's of course their choice, but it's just to point out how insignificant these amounts are.

Moon now or moon later?

50/50

CRITICAL!

Symmetrical triangles are a pain in the butt!  Grin
Could be a fake breakout and we may fall back and move that triange pattern for a while before the market decides to run in one direction, meaning up or down.
But in times like the ones we are in now and the closer we come to the ATH emotions will pay very significant role.
Therefore all the TA we are doing so often could be worthless. Cheesy

Nothing better than a good ol "rally!!!" thread in the morning with a cop of coffee as you watch bitcoinwisdom and a nice graph that says bitcoin continues its way into the moon. I think we are going to keep seeing a strong uptrend for a long time, what we are seeing now is just the usual resistance on every new increase of 100 dollars. So we are now battling against the 900's resistance, we will keep testing it until we crush it then it's 1000 and then it's new ATH.

I think we need another rally thread. It's been a while since the last one was locked.
