For example, @UserU is running one: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.54074347

Alas, I have decided to close it after receiving some good feedback from a few members there.

Yes, It's good that you are trying to find out some threads for learning about merits. There are lots of threads in this forum about the merits, How it works, how to earn merits etc. So find them and try to learn and works hard then you can get the merits and will be ranked up.

For now, I'm exploring the thread and topics from the different contents to make sure that all of my posts have a quality and have a count and contribute to the forum. I'm looking forward that those threads I made can help other users too.
don't Just focus in creating threads because most of the things Cryptonians might need to learn was already created but only the concept has differences.
try to contribute to the conversation posted by others because sometimes Our opinions is what someone needs to hear and that may a merit worth ,and also don't push too fast because we need to be active first and stay longer to learn more and become functional.

I spend my smerits as soon as I get them, if you think your posts/topics are good enough and are not getting enough 'merit' attention, try to participate in merit giveaways. They can give you a good headstart.

I'll give you a merit if you can find at least 2 threads of how newbie can earn a merit.

I'll throw in an extra one merit just for the effort.

OP, Use the search function more to help you word you post better as you can read about the ideas of others in relation to that topic and it also avoids duplicate posts.
Going through your recent post history there are a lot of redundant questions and rehashed posts. Put a little more effort into reading and you would see your post quality improving.

One of the biggest problems is the newbies are the merits, so how can we earn merits? These merits are given only to the people does have a good and quality post and this is like a token of appreciation but one of the problems is even you have a lot of good topic or content there are a lot of users holding their sMerit (sMerit is the token that you can donate to the other users). It is better if we give those merits too other users and make it balance and circulate so there are members that can rank up too.

It's hard for Newbie to earn merit. But if you post good posts which is useful for other members then you will definitely get merit. If your post is not informative, why give you merit? So read the other threads and create useful posts. Other members will definitely give you merit.

Thanks, I hope I give the things the same with the newbie members' needs too.

Now that you have learned the first thing here that you need everytime you don't know the topic. Read what the thread is all about.

Focus much more on not trying to earn a merit (you'll have it, if you deserve to), and be very careful of posting a stuff that you really don't have any idea.

If you ask me what is the easiest way to grab some merits? I would say, "Be forum member." Exactly, at the very firstx if you become a forum member and stop looking for merits, you will get it more faster than you can imagine.

Hmm, merits thread ! Actually you shouldn't expect merits for all of your posts. There is some problems why earning merits quite difficult for newbies.

1. Spam on mega thread. Usually when you will make even a good reply on mega thread those are more than five pages then likely merit source or a established users will never read that post. So there is very low chances for getting merits.

2. Repeat post. This is another problems during earning merits. Especially when a question got right answers then some users just try to repeat same think although they do not make plagiarism. That's why they newbies do not get merits. Also some users try to make repeat topic those have been discussed previously in order to get merits. If merit sender notice this kind of behavior then he/she will not sent merits.

Forum users so kind about send merit to newbies even there is good & noticable post. Just try to do your best without expecting merits. We don't know when we will receive merits. Trust me, even I am getting merits on years old topics. When others users will notice you are doing great job then obviously you will get merits if you really deserve.

Well as o_e_l_e_o said, what do you need to ranked up is not about creating quality thread only. If you find any existing topic and that topic need solution, you are the man who know how to solved it, you can make a posts on that thread with your knowledge. that are the real contribution for this forum and member, i think.

If we delimit the discussion to ranking-up, moving from Newbie to Jr. Member is not that hard really. There are currently around 11.678 Jr. Members that made it (as well as other Newbies that almost reached the higher-ranks by now). Granted that there are many more Newbie accounts around, but many come and go (i.e. turn inactive), and I do not feel that there are many that make decent posts and going unmerited. It may take a while, but they’ll eventually get there (I took around a month and a half to earn my first merit when I started off, so I particularly do not have a “needs to be hasty” vision on the topic).

As @Kersh768 mentioned, there are merit giveaway threads around, and more importantly, merit sources or regular forum members that often award merit, specifically with kinder eyes when the created content comes from a lower-ranked account.

There is probably a greater difficulty moving on from the lower ranks to the mid-ranks, and the mid-ranks to the higher ranks (see Pipeline Summary on link provided below).

See: https://public.tableau.com/shared/TPJ35QCB4?:display_count=y&:origin=viz_share_link (Tableau is having some issues these days, so it may not be fully working at a given point in time).

Thanks a lot for this link so I can follow now the information and data and analysis of the bitcoin talk. I will make sure I will put a lot of research and information that I can share to others too.

Ahh yes, the "newbie with no merit pontificating about the merit system" thread. Roll Eyes

OP, you are trying too hard. You've created three topics here in the last 24 hours - one about security which contains flat out incorrect information, one is a pointless and useless guide about how to create a topic, and now this one about merit. It's obvious you are desperate to rank up. I wonder if anyone can guess why?

Try reading and learning a bit more first, and lay off the "New Topic" button for a while.

Good day for the first 24 hours topic I created is for beginners too like me and I respect your opinion about this one of my goal too is to be good with you and now I'm preparing for a good topic and thread by just having a research and read a lot of articles just to share with you that is related to the world of bitcoin. I feel sorry if my first topics do not satisfy or feel you good.

It is really a problem. Not all users in this forum are participating with the sending or giving of merits but we cannot blame those who are not doing so because that is there 'right' to decide whether to give or not. If ever you won't get a merit from creating a topic, do not stop, maybe, other users think that there is an 'absence' of something that would convince to give you a merit from your post or topic created. We should all seek for improvements.

Also, there are merit giveaways sometimes, participating would be a good idea, so do not lose hope.
