I am not a fan of raffles...you toss away coins with bad chances of winning. I think running an auction with all of them at once is the way to roll.

The problem with raffles is that they're actually gambling. Operating gambling business is regulated.

Could just do a raffle, would eliminate the script chance, allow people an opportunity, and people won't get mad about web code.

Hi everyone,

The big sale is now over, along with the promotional offerings of these 6 "artist's proof" coins.  All 6 have been sold.  You guys were fast!   

There has been some discussion about whether scripts were used.  I frankly don't know.  From the perspective of a web front store, that's hard to tell, and we didn't have the capability to filter out scripting.  (A sufficiently smart script is indistinguishable from a well-behaved web browser.)  What I do know, is that you had to be lucky, to click on the page just at the right time, to get allocation and ability to add to the shopping cart, and then successfully checkout.

The purpose of this "special", is just to give a lucky price break to people who was there at the right time to buy the coin at a good price.  It was in conjunction to the promotion for our big sales event.  In the end, there were only a few coins available, so by nature, there was no single fairest way to sell them.  (Remember, not all of our customers are members of Bitcoin Talk, so an auction-only way was not enough.)  So in the end, we decided to sell some of them via this method, and then sell a few more via auction. 

We will announce the auction soon, so that you may bid on them if you didn't get to buy it on the store.

There was only 6 for sale anyway. All 6 have now been purchased. The remainder of the 10 or 11 they said they had, will be auctioned on the forum.

Well, no one can complain now.  It's been completely removed from the site. 

They said 6 coins will be available in the shop. There were 6 coins available in the shop, at 11am and 11pm times. They did exactly what they said they would.

I did not use a script. However, I suspect that the last two coins were bought with a script.

You exploit a flaw in the system to get the very first coin, somehow get "lucky" enough to get another one - you then go and sell them to private buyers at inflated prices to line your own pockets - and then you manage to get yet ANOTHER coin as well?!

I have been trying, like everyone else, to get one of these coins at the allotted time. There is no chance in hell that a human is making those coins disappear so quickly. This is a script. End of. And until it is proven differently, my stance on that remains firm.

It appears the more unscrupulous collectors/traders are using scripts (allegedly) to ninja the purchase.

So, that's put me right off future "specials" from BTCC... as in .. whats the point?

In my view, the more recent past has shown BTCC struggle to issue coins on a fair basis. The releases are in disarray and collectors feel like they are being gouged on some items. All in all, it's not been a pleasant experience. A shame as it started so well.

Anyhoo, there's plenty of other coins out there that are in fact rarer, and in some cases, more desirable, my ire will pass and cool stuff will appear, the world turns and we all move on.

Has nothing to do with luck. Someone was either using a script or a bot, and I confirmed this on the last order today. They ordered it within <2-3 seconds which is impossible for a human. This applies for the last two orders. I can not say anything regarding the previous ones as I was not there to witness them.

It's possibly because it's waiting for payment from whoever got the one that was available.
Well done to the ones who were lucky enough!

No. This same thing happened last night too. The coin showed up for sale some time after 11am(utc+8). I don't know when exactly, but it did.

It didn't come for me neither. Maybe they need to recover one coin for the one you got at the beginning as a bug Anduck?

Similarly BTCC wants to "Make Bitcoin Great Again".

It's just a matter of time the two mottos will combine.  

I don't think even Auction is allowed if it's loaded , in this case - it is.

I thought I had read that the auction winners in the USA were sent their winnings directly, but IDK if that was the case, or how the laws pertain to such, regarding auction wins vs sales on the MSB / FINCEN stuff/bs....

I agree though, it's a shame our own America has excluded us, I'm disgruntled as well. Not even going to comment on the current politics either LOL

Yes I guess there are several people refreshing all at once, only one of them gets through and manages to get the coin in their cart without being sold out.
The rest will see the coin but by the time it happens and they add to the cart it's sold out.

If you see it as close to 11 as possible you may be the lucky one. I will also be trying again.

It's a real damn shame that USA can't buy them even though I believe it's USA people that buy the most.

Edit:  Are forum members going to be able to buy if in the USA?  Meaning, is only the webstore limiting the sales to the rest of the world?

According to my tracker, 30 out of 100 have been peeled.

There's about 100 of these, they were distributed to friends and other people before they started with the store. 10/11 is what's left in BTCC hands according to them.
So when considering how rare they are consider there are up to 100. Some have been peeled, some lost, again from what BTCC has said.

I'd still like one for my collection at the right price though.

I think if they release other coins like that they will have a difference compared to these one. Because if they don't, these one will not be rare anymore and that mean they would have lie to us. And they don't want a bad rep

Also, it is unknown how many of these will be released into the wild from BTCC via other methods.

There are more than a few of these in existence, ergo, there is no fire under my feet to get one "now".

Indeed. I almost had the second one but did not have an address to ship it and the buyer decided to just keep it. I will just have to wait for the forum auctions and see what they go for. I do not think they will grab a huge premium since the market is low these days. Even the almighty Casascius coins are selling for cheap

I'm offering to sell the coin I bought before the auctions begin. There are less than 100 of these made, so it's really hard to estimate the auction price. I may sell this for higher than auction price, or lower. But I am now offering this possibility to secure one of these coins before the auctions begin. Fair, right?

I think the ones that will be auctioned on the forum may be shipped to the US as in previous cases. But better double check when the auction start.

The Artist Proofs look great and the price is low!  Wish I was eligible for them as well but whoever gets to pick them up will be happy. 

Those are some nice looking coins - and limited edition indeed.  Time to beg some friends to F5 for me as well.

F5 buttons are gonna get wore out.  I know this is not the thread and is off topic but the newanon mentioned about a boxed (.1, .25, .5 and 1btc) set, is there any thought about this i would be highly interested in a custom set of these.

Well i guess i cant, good for you zeph that US customers are locked out.  Its a shame the US laws dont allow for company funded coins cant be sold direct.  I wonder if cas would have still been making coins
